So we all love to sit around and talk about where we go for the next zombie outbreak:
`Lets go to Costco.`
`Lets go to Big 5 they have guns there!`
But stop and think for a minute. In the event of an emergency where people are being evacuated or under attack, EVERYONE is going to need supplies and weapons. This means that places like Walmart or Costco or even Liqour stores are going to be cleaned out.
Also, where would you hold up assuming you do have supplies? The High School? The police station? A store? Ohs ure, nobody else will think of that.
How about getting to a location? Streets? Freeways? Its not like there will be any traffic will there? And its not like the military wont be blocking roads or enforcing Marshal Law.
In the situation of infection, you will soon learn that the zombies will be the least of your troubles.
So What do you do?
Where do you get supplies?
Where are you gonna go?
How are you gonna get there?
Think about all the factors (besides zombies) that will hinder it.
thank you, I usually try to bring this up but am usually totally and unequivocally ignored.
I'd likely start hold up at the house, start storing water when the s**t begins to hit (and before water and power goes out... it should be easy to block the doors, adn the windows are kind of difficult to see into from the out side... so it should be easy to 'be invisible'... I am anticipating a large exodus of people going to the Army Base, which should draw off he zeds (which is very sad, but a logical conclusion) Sadly, at any given time, I have maybe (if I ration) enough non frozen food for about 3 days... and hopefully I can gather enough water for a while
I do have a few firearms here at the casa, but... I don't always have a small militia's worth of ammunition.
If I need to bug out in a hurry, I usually keep no less than 1/4 tank of fuel in my truck at all times, so thats maybe 90-120 mins of solid driving time maybe more (thats a conservitive estimate) ... again, if it looks like its about to go down... stuff my truck with camping/survival supplies (camp hatchet, sterno, extra clothes,lighter/matches, spare boot laces, rope, whet stone and a guide to local flora and fauna, among other things), as well as a few galons of water and a couple cans of food
my bug-out place would be my dad's house, but im none too sure how safe that would be... next bet would be to drive as deep into the state forest as I can and keep hiking and count on my luck and wits to keep me alive until something better happens
No prob! =-) Too many kids dream about a zombie apocalypse but dont really prepare or plan.
What your sayin sounds like a good plan!
Like i always say, its always best to look out for number one. make sure you yourself can survive. ofcourse its best to have a small group but its always best to be prepared to move alone. But it sounds like you got your shit together.
its alot like what i would do:
Pack up what i can and head for the mountains
First, I always have plenty of food. I'd take some fruit, some pretzels, that kinda stuff.
I'd take my Toyota truck. It's not the fastest but it's rather durable. Always got plenty of fuel. As for weapons, I don't always carry much. Usually I have a close combat weapon like a baseball bat or knife, but I buy or loot my guns.
Finally, I'd set up camp at (seriously) Chuck E. Cheeses! Think about it. You've got games and multiple places to hide in in case of a zombie infiltration. If zombies find you, you dont have much of an advantage but it's very unlikely they will. Where would you hide? In the big play area, where you crawl through the tubes and stuff. Zombies aren't really intelligent enough to check out places like that. It's simple. If only I had a Chuck E. Cheeses around...
wow...
okay.
What about the huge windows? What about food? If you hide in the tubes how would you escape when They get in?
you would be trapped... good idea though.
not very many ppl would think to go there.
You know, barricade the windows, (you have plenty of stuff in Chuck E. Cheeses), and then if they do get in, they probably wont stay long because they wont have anyone to eat there...duh...and of course for food they have lots of pizza! I wouldn't worry if zombies got in because they wouldn't stay long like I just said.
and how long would a flimsy barricade last on those huge front windows? how are you going to nail..and what would you use asides from the pull rope and maybe a couple arcade game you can slide over? how would you secure them? How long would they hold off 1 zed..or 10.. or 100?
Seriously, a factory. Most I've worked at have windows only in the break room, and the office. Both of which are usualy seperate from the production floor. They can be accessed from the shop floor most times, but you can barricade them easily enough with a pallet of product, or if the product isn't useable for what ever reason, use a forklift. Back it up to the door. Most forklift rear ends are around four foot tall. The lack of windows will help hide you from muraders, pirates, and other human scum that will be around at that time.
Shipping has large garage doors that are at least four feet off the ground. Just shut them and lock them.
As far as food, the break room usually has vending machines with sandwiches ( though some don't, the cheap ass bastards!). Most factories are far enough out side of town for wild game hunting, maybe deer, deffinantly rabbits and squirels.
What about weapons? You are in an industrial complex, there are weapons all around you! Go to maintance, they have all sorts of wonderful tools that can be used for Zed-killing. Alot of times, they even have generators in the maintance crib.
Depending on the facility, a factory is near perfect. NEAR PERFECT. I'm sure someone will point out a few flaws, which I welcome. I'd rather find them out now than on Z-Day and get eaten.
A factory huh, sounds like a good plan to me but that would probaly be my backup plan. My main plan is to buy food, supplies, materials, etc. ahead of time. That way when the outbreak hits I'll just bring out all my supplies and start fortifying my house.
It's part two of a plan. Part one entails collecting/stocking supplies before hand. My place is piss-poor as a fortified structure. Even barricaded, if I stay here I'm screwed.
