So we all love to sit around and talk about where we go for the next zombie outbreak:
`Lets go to Costco.`
`Lets go to Big 5 they have guns there!`
But stop and think for a minute. In the event of an emergency where people are being evacuated or under attack, EVERYONE is going to need supplies and weapons. This means that places like Walmart or Costco or even Liqour stores are going to be cleaned out.
Also, where would you hold up assuming you do have supplies? The High School? The police station? A store? Ohs ure, nobody else will think of that.
How about getting to a location? Streets? Freeways? Its not like there will be any traffic will there? And its not like the military wont be blocking roads or enforcing Marshal Law.
In the situation of infection, you will soon learn that the zombies will be the least of your troubles.
So What do you do?
Where do you get supplies?
Where are you gonna go?
How are you gonna get there?
Think about all the factors (besides zombies) that will hinder it.

yeah it sounds perfect!
The only thing to be careful of is other ppl that may try to get in too.
i think it would be good to get new people, you will probably get some survivors who want ot take over, but what are they going to do lol, they are not going to get in easy, even if they have explosives they are going ot have to get through z-heads and then by under boiling oil and crossbows and falling rocks etc etc

the only people who realistically could get in would be the military, but they would be let in anyway
Good point about everyone running to costco and shit. I have enough weapons and ammo to hold out for a while. ill go looting in abandoned houses for supplies and food.
plus i live on the coast of texas so my house is on hurricane stilts so i plan on cutting down my stairs... the only thing im lacking is a ladder..
Well, ladder is easily obtainable/makeable anyway so youre in a pretty good position i guess.
I don't think that there is any one certain place to go that is impregnable I would pick probably an old factory, solid walls, plenty of exits, enough equipment you could use to barricade any unused entrances, plus plenty of materials to make improvised weapons. No matter where you go to hide out for a while I believe in only staying for 2-4 days max and always leave a map or note written on the walls for any other survivors that happen to follow in your footsteps, and always have an exit strategy incase of a break in.
Believe it or not, there's actually a couple of private islands out my way, with castles (yes, actual castles!) on them. It would take several people and a good day or so to clear the place out (make sure nobody undead was already there), but after that, it wouldn't be bad.

The toughest part of any hiding spot is securing rations, and knowing where to get more if needed. That's what I like about this spot. It's near enough that I don't have to rely on having a lot of gas -- enough for the boat, the tow vehicle and maybe one other vehicle, just to get there -- and you can load up the boat with the rations you'll need to stay gone for a good long while.

As with any hideout, of course, the plan will break down, because, at some point, you will run out of food... but there's always the chance the mess will be cleaned up before that happens.
in the UK there are hundreds of castle, a lot are run down after the civil war but loads are still in perfect condition, look at my outbreak

that place is 20 min away from me
castles are an excellent idea... no such things like that here 'across the pond' sadly, there is an old American Civil War fortification, but unless you are repelling a Union invasion from the Cumberland River, then, it wont do much good against the zeds

I think your hidey hole depends largley on geography and history, UK for example has alot of old castles that may be easily fortified, while say the Caribbean, well one you have quite a number of small islands to get lost in, and two, you may be lucky enough to find an old Spanish or British Fort to use.
Actually out here in Arizona we have alot of old indian forts and I dont mean cowboys and indian forts I mean old fortified settlments built by the Native Americans way back when. Most are built into the side of mountians or on hilltops and the area around them almost always has running water if not a well inside the place.
yeah... the UK would be nice for that.
I'm in the US, but fortunate to live near the spot some historical eccentric decided to build a castle for his dear wife.
as long as it was built well then it should be great

its a great testimonial to the skill of the builders of castles to see that over a thousands years since they were built, they are still as strong as they were the day they were built

only ones that were destroyed by gunpowder in the civil war are destroyed now

now if you could get to a castle on an island, then you would be set for life, endless supply of fish!
I would probably live in an RV and just keep going and going until i am forced to hid somewhere but i will park the RV every once in a while to loot and save gas but with a few survivors like friends and family. I have asked myself this question that if a friend or family member ever got infected would i be able to kill them and i thought and i say yes but only after they change i couldnt do it before. P.S i have been thinking about what i would do for a long time
