So we all love to sit around and talk about where we go for the next zombie outbreak:
`Lets go to Costco.`
`Lets go to Big 5 they have guns there!`
But stop and think for a minute. In the event of an emergency where people are being evacuated or under attack, EVERYONE is going to need supplies and weapons. This means that places like Walmart or Costco or even Liqour stores are going to be cleaned out.
Also, where would you hold up assuming you do have supplies? The High School? The police station? A store? Ohs ure, nobody else will think of that.
How about getting to a location? Streets? Freeways? Its not like there will be any traffic will there? And its not like the military wont be blocking roads or enforcing Marshal Law.
In the situation of infection, you will soon learn that the zombies will be the least of your troubles.
So What do you do?
Where do you get supplies?
Where are you gonna go?
How are you gonna get there?
Think about all the factors (besides zombies) that will hinder it.

i meant if u had to be in the vault. and when the shit hits the fan utilties are not going to be available so if u have a two story complex u could just go back to the olden days and give the duce a heeve ho if u catch my drift. sorry for not clearifing my statement
I only said the bank could be used temporarily. Banks a normally in the most built up areas of even rural areas. Built up areas with people are not my idea of a good place to hold out long term.
I want to respond to this discussion so BAD! but if I do someone will try to take up where im heading and I'll have a hard time controlling my area.
that's why you write it generically.... ie: mountains, island, lake etc. 1 of my buddies is trying to buy an old missle silo. It has: lots of room, Garge door/Blast door big enough to drive a few tanks into, built into side of mountain up private roads. living quarters for underground living and air/water-filtration systems active.... not bad for less than 90G
Yeah not bad seeing that everything is gutted. I've seen those for sale. You spend a lot of money fixing it up. It makes a great zombies resistant abode. Hell just wait until the shit hits the fan and just move in.
i can honestly say that i'v never anyone mention a missle silo so that very original, and i was thinking about the prisons as well but i agree with Paul. a small town or county prison would be good.
You guys are forgetting one of the BIGGEST laws of the Zombie Invasion:
"No place is safe, only safer."

Holding up ANYwhere is a bad idea. Stay mobile.
I'm fortunate in that I live very close to rain forest. 20 mins by dirt bike and I'm gone. No shortage of fresh clean water, lots of game and bush food. All I need is a sleeping platform in a tree and I'm home sweet home. My Bug out bag holds everything I need for a few days untill I get settled and can go hunting.
I mentioned this in another discussion somewhere... Here we're talking of the initial outbreak, the chaos blah blah blah.... Not everyone will have the same circumstance, but still ...

A person is intelligent, people are thick as shit. In the event of an outbreak the initial days prior to say Marshal law being imposed people will be freaking and panic buying ... eventually the army or whoever try to use their braun to deal with the problem. At this stage the numbers are too many and their knowledge of them not great so the army flee.

Some people will try to escape the town/city etc... Most won't make it. Eventually in the space of say 1 week, the chaos caused by people will be over. All thats left is a broken city/town crawling with the undead.

Trying to join in the survival during week 1 is futile and stupid. Most people have enough food in their homes on a daily basis to eat for a month... we think we don't but we do... it usually lasts a week cos we indulge.. Anyway... so the week of chaos, your best bet is litrally to do NOTHING, Board up your house make it inpenetrable...much easier if you live in a large building. You;re not gonna have to leave for a while so no worried there.... By the end of the week, most of the idiots that hit the streets in an attempt to survive will be undead....frankly they scare me less than the living...

All the people who hit walmart (US) or ASDA (UK) or Carrefour (EUROPE) will be dead and their homes fully stocked with all the things they thought they'd get to use...

Once all that is left is the undead... then you make your move...
Good clear thinking Claire
Good thinking if you're at home when TSHTF. I like the idea of not panicking and keeping a low profile. Sometimes you have to move. When you do it make sure you know where you're going and have a good idea of what is waiting for you.
