Where do you go? (A realistic view)

I live in a small town, and i've considered many different areas to hold up. There are several elementarty schools in the area and one highschool.

Highschool is centraly located, close to down town, the layout makes it sketchy so it's out.

Best one i can think of is this one elementary school. It's an older building. Cement scructure, windows are 5-6 feet off the ground. Dead ghouls could be killed and burned right under the windows with no damange to the building.

Parking lot on the west side, VERY large open fields surrounded by a high fence on north and south sides. Small walk way on the east. Good for spotting them easily and possibly sniping from the roof.

Beyond that are neighborhood houses. lots of them... all around. Good for doing supply runs if needed.

Under 10 doors.

Cafeteria

Nurses station.

4 levels
-basement
-main floor
-2nd floor
-attic (large attic, might as well be considered a 3rd floor all on it's own.)

Fire exstinguishers through out the hall ways.

Library, full of resource infomational books.

I used to live right accross the street, i know the neighborhood, most of the residences have their own gardens, it's an orchard town so most houses have at least one fruit tree of some kind. I also know where the backalley rasberries grow and saskatoons. Least it's something.

The places has multipul rooms and lots of fall back points. Huge water heaters, also it rains here all the time. There is a creek 10 min walk away... it's a distance but better then nothing.

Lots of chairs and desks availible to baracade doorways, outside doors are already metal, and built to withstand riot and breakins.

As for weapons, besides the local sport and game store, I know a guy who lives on the corner of the school field who is a bit of a gun nut, he even makes his own amo. If he's not dead already he might join us, if he is dead, his stuff is up for grabs. Pretty good situation.

All things considered it the best place to hold up in town. Have a better chance there then out in the woods. with animals, exporsure to the natural elements, no walls, and random zombies all around.

Enough with where to go but the thought should also be on how to get there... keep in mind that most major roadways will be packed with unprepepared idiots panicking causing some accidents and not to mention the UDCs (UnDead Combatants). Our group has researched and found that most maintained riverways have access roads running alongside. This country was also built on railways, those will be very open if you have vehicles able to travel alongside and sometime on them (stay out of tunnels whenever possible)!!! Our advice is to get to your rail maintenance yards and get the trucks that are able to ride the rails. These are made to be super duty and some have solid rubber tires... A little bit of added armor and you're good to go.

what about trains that have clogged the rail ways. u dont get much of a choice when ur on them cing as that they only go to specific locations

Courtney's zombiepocalypse escape plan

I’m assuming for the following conditions:
- At least 70% of the general, civilian population will turn zombie within the first 24 hours. This means that all retail stores will be fair game.
- Electrity will be cut off within a few days’ time.
- The US military will have no provisions for this event and will be wholly unhelpful.
- There will be a small group of survivors, and all looters from this group will be stooped enough to let the zombies know their whereabouts while they are out and about, thereby limiting the number of hostile survivors AKA “Raiders” that must be dealt with.
- My group will be mobile and all items will be easy to break down, but will remain in fortified buildings for as long as possible.

1. Gather up family members and hop in the Aztek.
2. Gather up new/old boyfriend and introduce him to family. Not the best time for niceties, but he’ll thank me when he’s still alive and I’ve at least saved him from the hell hole of the suburbs and suburban zombies. Costco sample day will never be the same after the zombiepocalypse comes.
3. Attempt to contact BFF and other good friends. Gather them all up as well. Stop hyperventilating women from passing out in group.
4. Grab a blonde that will serve solely as a sacrificial victim, if times get too tight and there are too many zeds. Do not tell blonde this plan. Feed blonde up every chance possible.
5. Hit up several guns stores and military outfitters, which have already been mapqwested. Directions to these have been printed out and are stored in a watertight container.
6. Assemble small artillery of semi-autos and personal handguns, and some big ‘uns like a .50 cal or a few .50 cals. Also grab a machete per person. Each person should have several belts of ammo, at least a dozen clips on them for their hand guns, and enough remaining ammo to last at least a week, depending on the level of hostility encountered. Also important is getting out hands on the materials to make Molotov’s and other personal bombs and incendiaries. These are useful in a crowd. A few flamethrowers in the hands of the adults will make a huge difference. We will also need walkies with rechargeable batteries.
7. Grab medic gear at a local hospital or clinic, most likely HCMC. Each person should have equipment to set broken bones, wrap wounds, and stop bleeding.
8. Break into a car lot and steal a Hummer or two….urban assault vehicles are preferred in this scenario. After this, Cabela's will feel our wrath when we steal a few tents and some camp stoves.
9. Finally, raid a grocery store and grab items like granola, cereal, beef jerky, beans, pre-packaged tuna, and some candy, which are all packed with energy and protein. Grab condoms.
10. Find a fortifiable building, preferably by a shopping center but not inside the city itself. One of the better options here would be a bank with few windows or one of the government centers, depending on points of entry and number of windows.
11. Shoot anyone who cannot articulate their own name when asked “Who the fuck are you?!”
12. Place a few .50 cals on makeshift turrets in the upper windows of the building. Fire at will.
13. Fortify urban assault vehicles with industrial metal screens on windows and welded-steel cages on the outside. This action depends on the level of threat around the compound at this time. This can wait until more of the threat has been neutralized.
14. Place gasoline around compound every evening before dusk. In dire times of need, channel Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire and burn the fuck outta those zeds.

im not trying to be a dick just help u out so dont take it personal if i offend u in ur plan. ur plan only seems to work if it goes ur way and if the world has taught us anything its that nothing goes ones way. retail stores will be ransaced first chance giving and unsafe due to broken windows and fires.there will always be hostile survivers, and i doubt u can fit all ur survivers in n Aztek, unless u have more then one vehicle which i hope u do. only help ur Bf if u can, dont go outta the way to go to him thats how people get fucked up in the first place. the blonde thing is funny as hell but please dont do that in real life we need all the people we can get. some of the people in the gruop might be to freaked out to use a gun when under attack and remeber u might not get enough ammo for ur plan but if u can by almeans go for it, and unless u run across a military check point 50's might be hard to come by. molotov's are dangerous to everyone. a zombie wont be killed right away after being hit by one and the burning of human flesh is unbarrible. flamethrowers are out of the question. and as long as u know how to make ur bombs u'll be fine otherwise i wouldn't advise it. getting medical equipment is very wise since most people only want to see how many guns they can get ahold of.Hummer H1's are a good vehicle but think of the gas milage after all most of these items will be scarce( food, gas, water ect.) i like the condoms, safety first. you should find a building that you can use that has a source of entertainment and food. like in walking dead they found a prison which was great. but u gotta think about the inmates and other people outside trying to get in. you should try and find a more quite method of killing zombies then 50 cals, dont want anymore zombies showing up after hearing the gunshots but if ur under heavy attck the 50's should work. ur gasoline plan is fine, just dont let it dry up when u need it. and the jonny cash song should be played load and clear

I assume you have a massively better plan than mine that will completely blow mine out of the water and leave me gasping for breath.

Either way, its about knowing your area and the advantages and disadvantages of it. And please see my blog posts on holing up in a prison...STUPID IDEA, for soooo many reasons. Its been discussed to death. Its still dumb and always will be.

Some parts of this plan were meant to be sardonic and mildly entertaining. Perhaps you should read it with a lighter slant and see that there can be humor in every situation, even the dead rising from their graves and running roughshod over the world.

i stated that i wasnt trying to offend u or anything. im not trying to start a cyber battle or nothing and i thought ur post was funny. y do u think prisons are a bad idea, and my plan wont help me out unless im out the army. i'm gonna be one of the first ones dead anyway.

There are several long-winded posts in the discussion "Prisons" on my page that you can refer to about the massive disadvantages of using a prison as a fortress. Its a bad move in a lot of ways.

it all just depends how long it takes during the intial outbreak. it could be like Dawn of the Dead or it could be like 28 days later.

Well not that the Swine flu is a good example, I believe it was overblown and will be again in the fall. My reasoning is that it is basically a slow moving person to person strain. A Zombie plague would be rather fast moving from person to person through violent means. I believe it would dpread fast but you never know.
