I was wondering if the caliber of the bullet matter when you headshot a zombie could you use something ass small as a .22 because if you could that would seem a good round to use small light and easy to carry. Appreciate any insight anyone can give.

Short to Mid Range Rifle: .22

Mid to Long range rifle: 30-06

Short Range Handgun: .38(just cause I like it =])

Mid range handgun: .45

Remember, pistols/handguns are no good for longe range shots. You're not gonna be shotting down Zs with a pistol at 200 yards away. But then again, if a Z is that far, I'd just save ammo and get outta there.

And as of the 9mm in a rifle, I believe there's a 9mm conversion for ARs but im not too sure. You might wanna look it up.
hey i am new here but i know that even a 22 is weak but genraly the only thing that you need is it to hit the brain.

Here is a bullet comparison pic.
From left to right: 12gauge field shot, 12 gauge bean bag, 7.62x51(.308), 5.56(223), .45 Long Colt, .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 9mm, .380 ACP, .22 long rifle. I posted this in another forum too. It gives you a look at the difference in size of the calibers.
any number of .45 caliber rounds is my choice.
Oh, I'm not crazy because I had these bullets laying around my desk. I'm crazy for other reasons.
personaly i would take the .22 rifle.no skull penitaration is little to none with a .22 inless ur point blank range.but u want to go though the soft skull tisue with the .22,even at that its not a definet kill but if u can get the .22 in their skull the round itsnt big enoght and strong enough to go though the other side.its just going to bounce around in the head doing far more damage to the zeds brain than just about anything.it will turn all that brain matter into puddling at least
The .22 is a nice rifle. I have 2 and they are great with in 75 yards for taking ground hogs and such. I can't see using them for much more then that.
A .22 will work well if and only if you've got decent aim and know what you're aiming for. Yes, there are softer spots of the cranium that a .22 is powerful enough to penetrate, but there's also alot more area where the round is likely to only crease the skull.

And somebody brought up a parabellum round? Those are manstoppers. They're meant to add alot more kinetic energy on impact, and less penetration. Many times people have fired 9mm rounds into a moving target, just to have that target keep coming because the round penetrated through, and there was no punch. The parabellum round adds the punch. You've got a crazed 6'5" 280lb guy running at you with a machete? Shoot him dead center with a parabellum round, it will knock him down and he won't be getting back up. You're trying to take out a zombie with a headshot? You would be just as well off with a regular 9mm round.
What if he's high on crack and PCP? I've seen guys take a whole lot of punishment and keep going as if nothing happened. Drugs...they make you jason voorhees...
then shoot him more. always works.
a .45 straight between the eyes makes you dead.

Wow, you pulled this thread from the depths.

my post stated what you just stated, maybe i should read before posting my opinions cos someone has thought the same already xD
