We all know Romeo, he of the "Dead" series.
An idea explored in his films (Especially Land of the Dead) is that zombies can think, learn to use tools, and the like.
For example, in Day of the Dead, the zombie Bub learns to use a gun. In Land of the Dead, the zombies have "memories" and the zombie "Big Daddy" learns to operate a gun. He leads the other zombies against the human race. At the end of the film, the zombies actually withdraw instead of attacking the remaining humans.

What do you think the chances of these events are? Could zombies actually learn to think and retain memories of their lives?

Zombies learning to use guns and thinking?
Zombies resisting the urge to kill?
Zombies planning attack strategies?

(IMO, this is unlikely. Zombies are dead. Dead things can't think.)

It could be possible. Their brains are dead only because of lack of oxygen and blood being sent to the brain. it's more likely a freshly dead corpse would be able to think as opposed to a corpse that was dead for a while because the brain is so rotten. And, if there is some form of the virus that causes "hive minds" to develop ,such as Big Daddy, then we would be in serious trouble because that would make them capable of organization. The disease affects everyone differently.
I agree.

Zombies come in at around a 1. They can operate primitive weapons of course. Refer to the DOOM series. the Z sec are armed with guns mostly, but, the normal zombies (the scientists) are armed with knives etc. anything you bash with make good weapons. think back to when you were like five when your motor skills were between 1 and two. you could pick up a rock and throw it or pick up a stick and hit people with it.
