Ok, lets say an outbreak occurs suddenly in your area. What would you wear in order to not loose dexterity but still be protected against bites? I would cut my leather jacket's sleeves off and bond my arms with medical bondages from wrists to elbows. That way i could keep my arms protected and agile(they could be more easily moved than with full sleeves) also i might bond the bone-unprotected area from lower part of waist to the lower part of chest(where ribs start) like japanesse-chinesse martial artists did before. Anyway post your ideas here.

I'm very, very tempted to say little to no extra protecion, simply because my survival plans center around avoiding the undead and being very mobile (able to vault, crawl, roll, run very fast, etc.) rather than having to fight them.

But if I was going to wear something I had readily available, I'd go with some motorcycle leather (Not Harley-Davidson rider sleeveless vests, I'm talking actual long-sleeved protection) and kevlar-lined blue jeans (also for motorcycle riding). Maybe a motorcycle helmet too, but that really kills your peripheral vision...

In general, probably a long sleeved tee shirt might get you an extra moment or two to pull away... Cloth is rather difficult to bite through.
My winter BDU's would have to work till I found something better. Not the best but its what I have around the house.
bullet proof jackets are probably not needed, if your going to get bit its going to be on a limb most probably

if youre talking about getting that extra stride distance then you surely wont want that weight slowing you down'?

a kevlar stab proof suit like worn by swat would probably be best, nothing can bite through it
A BDU is a battle dress uniform. Its not bulletproof but it is very thick cloth
As for leg protection i'd use my casual loose jeans, or my camo pants, as for foot - Black Knight safety footwear(those are literally kickass boots) or plain sneakers.
for feet, i have ex soviet speznaz steel capped and sole boots, they are well worn in waterproof leather and will break bones via kicking and stamping
Just remember, if u are going to kick something, curl your toes cause if you kick hard, it can break your toes. It happened to a friend of mine
I would prefer to wearing jeans or workshop uniform which is very thick but heavy for body protection.
There's also a new trend of "Harem Pants" that might be fit for the terms of "protection" because of it's width which made it very stretchy and flexible to wear (and to escape) from the bites/grabbing of the undead.
For the shoes, I always prefer boots - up to knee or thigh (if possible) or maybe a Lady Gaga enormous shoes... LoL
Completed with jacket, scarf, cap and gloves... Gosh, I might look a snowman ! Hi...hi...hi...

My protection is distance... there is no armor that will save you.... if a zombie gets close enough to you to take a bite or grab you you are dead you will be playing in the red of the game of averages.... the first zombie attack my not get you but the next might as your homemade armor becomes weaker with each attack until it fails... if you are in need of armor you are dead...the best armor is intelligance and distance...
No man can avoid all men(and zombies) all the time. Leather and Kevlar should do just fine. I might suggest knee pads and elbow pads for those who expect to have to have close quarters situations.
It can be done and must be done because if you think you can fight off every attack you have already lost.... it's called the Law Of Averages.... and those who choose to fight over avoidance will lose far quicker to the Law Of Averages than those who choose stelth and avoidance.... If you feel it's impossable to avoid contact with zombies then you should save yourself the pain and me the trouble and ammo blow your own brains out before they infect you...
