I've gotta say i'm kinda surprised no one has touched on this before- I'd say that if you're going to attempt to stay in an urban area, then this is a nearly essential skill. Free Running is essentially "stunt running", as in in involves large jumps, vaulting over obstacles, taking a step or two off of a wall to grab things, etc.)
If you're not familiar with it, this video gives you a pretty good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEeqHj3Nj2c

Now, obviously, in the context of a zombie apocalypse most of the flashy stuff should be cut out, but at it's core, Free Running is not just the ability to do crazy stunts- it's getting to places in the fastest way possible, regardless of the obstacles between you and that place. (Actually, that's Parkour, but they're rather similar.) It would be an excellent way to stay off of the zombie infested streets and allows you to take the road less travelled, which might make all the difference (poetry reference, right there)
However, it's also an excellent way to injure yourself, which is why I suggest you start to learn it before the zombie apocalypse- after it's begun, the chance of breaking something in the learning process is too great to risk.

Maybe that's why no one has mentioned it: it's ridiculuosly obvious.
haha. Better than rural, which I'm stuck with.
for me i would be fine because i do that shit on a day to day basis to workout and train with my team we got going, but it is definitely something you should now how to do before the outbreak happens.

and if anyone does PK/Free Run stop by and join my group i started
That is some crazy shit there! I can see where that would be useful in an outbreak; especially if they are 28day/Dawn of the Dead 2k5 zeds.
lol, I was just thinking about it watching that car commercial earlier...I think its Honda "10 car dash"
If you were to cut out all the flashy stuff, it would be called Parkour. Parkour is all about getting from point a to point b in the most efficient way possible. Free running is getting from a to b in the most show-offy and attention grabbing way you can. I have dabbled in both and do occasionally free run. The main thing you need to know about free running is that you must not take unneeded risk and practice until you can do the basics, and later the tricks safely.
I realized that recently, But I don't think i can change the post now. Thanks for the clarification.

EDIT: Changed. Thanks again.
I agree, I am an experianced parkour/free runner. I tihnk that sence i'm in a mroe urban area that this skill will help me alot when i'm getting to places on foot. I'v marked out many running trails most of them on high places and building tops, If I took out free running my chances of injuring myself would be slim, howver if your not as experianced of a parkour/free running I wouldn't try it. To risky

Keep breathing.
HAHA, love that game
"Leveled Up!"
"Great now I have to allot points... hmmm... 1 to headshots, one to free running..."

Someone should make a zombie apocalypse RPG.
They have one called All Flesh Must Be Eaten www.allflesh.com. Pretty decent game overall and gives you a lot of freedom in terms of types of zeds you want in your campaign.
Basically you train yourself. Maybe talk to some friends and see if anyone else does it.

At least, that's what I'm doing. If you sniff around there's probably some "Parkour Teams" in your area, specially in New York.
