The chainsaw is a weapon of such nature that one has difficulty discerning its practical applications. Its strong, its loud, and i pumps the user up. However, it is loud and draws in zombies, as well as having a finite fuel use. So, america, what are the pros and cons of this time-honored weapon?

The chainsaw is a cool weapon. As you have said, it's strong, loud, and gives the user an extra boost of adrenaline.

But it does have its downsides. Not only does it have a limited amount of fuel, but the constant running of the blades across the zombie itself would most likely produce a massive amount of blood spray.

This increases the possibility of infection as you are likely to catch some of the blood on/in your own body. But as always, if you don't have any open wounds you should be alright. And just be cautious of getting any of the blood into other things, eyes, nose, etc.

However, it's a chainsaw. Nothing is more badass than pounding down the last drops of a bottle of whiskey, throwing it to the ground, revving up a chainsaw and charge swinging into a mob of the living dead.

But would blood splatter? Technically the body is dead, so the blood might very well be congealed. But still, chainsaw might even splatter with that.
No, no...I think you may be right...
ChAINSAW IS A NO!!!!!!! they run on fuel, they are heavy and hard to travel with, they will break insanely easy especially in contect wih human flesh and bone they will clog up and stop working, in battle they are virtually usless. leave the chainsaw. when the dead rise there is no worse weapon than a chainsaw i advise you...leave it.
Now... if the chainsaws could somehow be mounted onto a vehicle... THAT... would be brilliant... have an easier time barreling through any large groups of the undead in your way.

Other than that, I agree with Mango & Zac Lux... too much splatter.

However, if you're properly protected, and have no choice but to throw down with the Z's... Well in that case, splatter away. (just be mindful of the risks involved, including the noise issue). However, even if you're well protected from splatter, now consider the risk of having gobs of zombie flesh spattered on your person, and the additional risks that could impose when you return to your safehouse, both to yourself and others around you.

Verdict: Love it at your own risk, leave it if you don't know what you're doing - better safe than sorry, Chainsaw responsibly!
Problem with the chainsaw, the object of your attack basicly has to just stand there and wait for you to cut them in half. How often would that happen? Best weapon is something that needs no fuel, and can't run out of ammo.
Use it only in a situation when needed....like when you haven't had a zombie for a week or two and your bunkered down...all of a sudden one appears and you figure it would be a good morale boost to slice a zombies head in two.
Yes...Chainsaw the ultimate Z-times toy.
Now only if there was a strong solar powered chainsaw
I say no. Unless you have a mask of some sort on. You might get blood in your mouth. Or you could cut yourself & get infected that way. Its a slippery slope the chainsaw...
I'd definitely only use it as a weapon of last resort. You've just been bitten, out of ammo, Zombies are bashing in the door.....what better way to go my friends than revving that bad boy up, kicking in the door and going crazy apeshit as a human one last time
yeah, then you and your friends get devoured cause you think you're all powerful cause you got a chainsaw. then it clogs, after the first zombie, and then what?
