A shuttle bus is a great idea, and then hit the home depot for some plexiglass so you can modify the hell out of the windows and reinforce your vulnerable points further.
I'd go bicycle, hoofing, then as soon as the roadways are clear, a deffinately off-road vehicle, something that can carry supplies and personel and travel at a good clip over land. Or I may stick to the waterways, riding it out in a boat.
Well, realistically... I'd say be aware of what is actually, right now and at all times, available to you. I don't know about you, but I know I don't keep a helicopter in my back yard. What I do know is the tools available to me, where the transport that DOES exist around me is, and then it's a matter of planning how to reinforce those vehicles so that you can increase your chances of survival in a practical manner.
ideally, a windowless conversion van or moving van. Easy to reinforce, easy to modify your own windows into - such as port holes w/ shutters for shooting if necessary - and still accessible enough to be available to you, one way or another.
When all else fails, car jack some poor confused clueless suburbanite's SUV, and fly baby, fly!
I agree... but keep a few bikes strapped to the roof. Gas won't last forever.
You could easily modify 2 bikes to basically be a quad, with perhaps a carrying space between them for supplies on the go and there ya go. Transport for 1.. or 2!
buses and tankx are safest but highly unmanuverable
bikes and walking if living in highly populated places are best they are quick to start moving, quite, and you don't need pit stops for gas
motorcycles are also good for urban areas but they make alot of noise and are low in the mileage department but great for escapes and luring
cars the most likely anyone is going to use is almost as bad as the SUV which is saying alot. three things noise, gas, and breakdowns. go figure
and if your an experienced horseman or woman lol and have bonded with your horse enough that it trusts you it may be one of the best options here. they can alert you when ghouls are near (animals know when its time to run-when there is a zombie incoming) and carrying food is easier than carrying gas we can all agree and water is abundant on Earth so that shouldn't be a problem.
most animals due to their gene complexity(too small unlike humans) are unable to harbor the Solanum virus... Solanum kills the host and is unable to spread through the body quick enough to reanimate the dead cells and tissues throughout the body
