City - bad choice. Better get out of it just when the outbreak starts.
Yep bad choice, not just because there will be a hell of a lot of zombies, more importantly there will be an incredible amount of disease coming from the dead people rotting in the streets. You are probably more likely to die from the diseases they cause then by the zombies.
very true Lazen but there wouldnt be that many dead people there either eaten completly or zombies them selves and it depends on your stragtegy and how you move about the city wouldnt it i mean if you destroy completely the stairs to a few floors and set up metal rods facing downward on all sides wouldnt it be impossible for them to get at you and since powers out hte elevators would already have crashed from people trying to escape zombie in the building then the wait just plain kills them and i would go on ground i plan on use those grappling hooks shot from guns and travel by roof top
Very rarely do zombies eat a whole body, they stop as soon as the flesh goes cold for some reason. So combine that rotting flesh with the rotting zombies and a hell of a lot of bad stuff will be floating around in the air.

If a dead body is even 30 feet away from you, you will have pretty much no chance of staying alive if you are living next to it. Not to mention contaminating food and drink supplies.

I don't like the stair idea either, I know it is thrown around in the survival book though. It would be fine as a last resort, but if you have a horde of more than 100 zombies then the sheer force of them will enable them to either grant them access or make it so you won't ever be able to get out.

As soon as any big disaster hits the first thing to do would be to get out of heavily built up areas straight away. The first to leave will have the best chances of survival.
i see wat you mean now and the whole stairs idea i havent got there yet in the Guide and yeah very true so basically try to keep moving in the country i like open plain better because i you can see way easier than in a cluttered forest you
The survival guide is a good start but in no way should it be taken as a bible, the only way to know what to do is to build up your knowledge over a number of years.

This site should take that time down to a few months hopefully.
hopefully but not many people really actually get down to the hard stuff around here like i know it says not to stay in one place but if you have a huge group or people get to the great wall of china wouldnt it bee a decent guess to say that building a base using it as one of your walls and lookouts for both sides would be a good idea i mean if you have a big enough group and have vehicles they could distact the zombies while you continue working on the base and if you have one or luckier 2 tailgunners the zombies following would be killed eventually anyways
