Hotels and apartment buildings are pretty good fort locations. They already have at least some security measures, not to mention privacy. Also, most zombies aren't coordinated, so destroy and barricade the stairs leading to the first floor, use a rope ladder or similar to enter and exit from a second story window, obviously leaving a guard (which you should do anyway unless you intend to do a sweep of your base every time you step out for fresh air) and even unwanted humans would have a hard time getting in. Plus, in case zombies do get in, the building's multi-leveled structure provides multiple fallback points.

However, neither would be good places to be during an outbreak, due to their location most likely being near population centers. Also, both would be a, dangerous, pain in the butt to clear out, as you'ld have to check under every bed, in every bathroom, drawer and cabinet in every room. That's, let's say, three floors of fifty guest rooms and four housekeeping rooms each, a pool room, exercise room and various meeting and maintenance rooms. That's 160+ rooms for a moderately sized hotel/apartment building. That's a good sized base, but also a huge risk to you and you team.
Basement.
Walmart would be too crowded. You'd be trampled as soon as panic set it. Same with the mall. Your home is most likely not fortified for seige.
I like tree houses.
I think I'm going to go build a tree house.

>_>
On a lunar base. Hydroponics would cover food, but I haven't really figured out how I would get water......maybe I should Bear Grylls it and just drink urine......oh hell no you know what screw that, I'm goin to S-Mart
As far away from a high population as possible, see I'm screwed in that instance considering that I live across the street from a hospital, college, mall, freeway and multiple shopping centers. Including a Target, good thing i have a battle plan.
Yeah...I definately don't envy you. I live in a pretty good place: Wyoming. Low population density, high weapons density. The only better state I can think of is Alaska, because of their lower population density (though we have a lower total population) abd lower tempuratures. Only bad part: we live in a desert. Though, also a blessing in disguise, because nobody's comming here, only leaving.
Ill tell you....last Friday i was at a party at a friends house, he haz a bigg pool, jacuzzi, penthouse, 3 bathrooms, lots of rooms , big rooftop, with a nice view to the highway and other houses, big TV, also he uses a powerplant in case of lightsoff.

Soo....is something happens ill move to his house with some guns, supplies and radios , also with some survivors and maybe have some pool parties....
As deep into the rain forest as I can get. Plenty of food and water there, no survivor gangs to deal with, in fact I might go now......
id say here, it 2 hours from my house and located in the middle of the delaware river on an island that has a fresh water lake( i think)

I think I've seen this place before.
all of you are welcome to join me i'd like to start a community when all is said and done, it'd be pretty safe
except for other regular bad people
anyone got a boat

oh and yeah it was on ghost hunters but whats a few ghosts compared to millions of flesh eating zombies
I would deffinatly join you there. And indeed, I am not scared of a few ghosts, when there is a big horde of undead waiting on the doorstep.
Let's hope that we can bring up the brigde.
But I don't get a boat. Can I get a ride from anyone there?
We will kick the bad people out :P
