Well, I live a mile away from a Lowe's, which would be an amazing place to hide out temporarily. Huge scaffolding to climb up on, lots of lumber and plywood to buttress the 7 relatively small entrances, and an innumerable amount of weapons. Also, it's 1/4 mile away from an Albertson's, which could hold me over until winter. Once winter hits, I would make my way up to Colorado, which would prove an amazing atmosphere to defend against zombies in the long-term. Cold weather means they would move slower, lower population density means fewer hostiles, and lots of mountains means terrain protection. Then, I could till the land (with the help of a few select friends), and we could start a small farming community. Then, we all (try to) live happily ever after.
first thing is first i have covered this in other threads but my whole plan is take the 1964 unimog in my yard and drive it to pick up some people who are gonna need to survive with me, next i would hit walmart for its food stock piling whatever i can into the vehicle (if other survivors have dependable trucks we would use those to) next hit gander mountain for ammo and supplies taking any guns and ammo you can grab (maybe a bow or 2 just for fun) very last step go to the locally owned gun shop (in my case the shop called the wolfs den) most these shops have a front and back door both steel with deadbolt and bars, and also has a rather large window with iron bars in the front...oh and i forgot it also has roof access....so now an over view food and water from walmart that covers eating and drinking for a while guns and ammo from both gander mountain and the gunshop covers all your basic needs for protection...and the reason i chose these 3 locations is because they are all in a nice straight line from my house and are all withing 20 minutes distance at most
I've always thought it would be good to be in a cabela's store! They have so much hunting supplies, but maybe too many entrances and glass windows.
i came up with a home design that would be almost perfect for the apocalypse
out in the middle of nowhere, near a lake.
the first two levels are essentially a bunker, the next levels are accessed by a ladder up the outside of the first two levels, there is a small cement house(the next two levels) on top with a garden built into the cement. the garden would have chickens and veggies.
on top of the house, a solar array is installed.
I've always thought of large, one-staircase buildings asa good, but really, the farther from people, the better. Distance is better than any wall. Urban areas are where it's gonna be pea-soup thick, so small-towns are better, with the added bonus of lax gun laws and lots of farming area :D.
I have some info bout russian bunker - or more like a huge underground facility near Mt. Yamantau in Belorestk...
It's been said to be the last human fortress against the apocalypse or nuclear wars. Is it also for Z'poc effects ?
You find it more on any articles about Mt. Yamantau - The New Russian Underground Bunker activities and satellite pics.
Also, rumours bout the safest place during the apocalypse would be in the middle of US territory, Australia continent and any place far from nuclear reactor (as an effect from massive solar blasting theory... or something like that)

PS. I miss all my dearly friends at work... I think I got a terrible flu so I had to staying in bed for a week ! Eeeeweeh....
i would have to dissagree with the tree house idea and the basement. for one sure you can climb a tree and take shelter in a tree house but what happens when there are hundreds of thousands of infecteds huvering around the tree house getting bigger and bigger each pasing day you will eventraly run out of ammo and be stuck up there. and the basement not the best place to hide, you have to take into conciderration that there may not be any windows or any way out after u have entered it. in other words no way out kinda like the tree house idea not going to work!!!!!!!!
I'd vote to stick with a house. New channel on, try to be out of the city, so you're not too close to where everyone else is getting herded to and infected, and you've got the security of knowing your area.
*News channel lol.
One of those new "MODERN" fallout shelters. Its underground, and totally self sufficient! They come stocked with food for 20 years! Would cut down on supply runs.
