I've seen plenty of best weapon and best place to go threads, but not one with gear. I mean stuff like, tools, armor, clothes, shoes, etc. Make sure its practical though, items you can get ahold of. Hell, even stuff you can make yourself!

Currently, I have a paintball mask equipped with an LED tactical flashlight, and a breathing filter to avoid getting debris in my mouth.

I prefer to wear microfiber urban camo thats not too tight, but fits close. Durable black Nike crosstrainers, carbonfiber impact riding armor, and a black resin-fiber backpack.

Tools I would carry-
A knife with a serrated edge.
A small prybar.
A lockpick kit.
A lighter and matches.
A whetstone.
Plyers.
A medical kit.
Several Mp3 players with single portable speakers.

If i haven't awarded it to myself, that is :)
well, I actually am not a hardcore survivalist, so this is the stuff I own that I can take with me:

Tight running shirt
various sport pads for bite protection
gloves and socks
some fairly tight jeans
baseball cap
dark jacket
plastic rain poncho (who here wants hypothermia?)
several various knives/multi-tools, including a Kukri
water bottles
my glasses
oh, and the ZSG too. for obvious reasons.
That's pretty sneaky.
Would it hurt your hand over time, brass-knucklesesque?
It does run the risk of breaking your hand, but it is a good last resort defense. I would prefer brassknuckles over a fistpack... Maybe I'd put a blade edge on it..
I laughed for 10 minutes straight after reading this.
I prefer a tubesock full of heavy gauge BBs and wood screws.

the sale military tactical clothing
i myself am buying some
and will have boots and helmet and eye protection
i'll carry a machete and my AR that I'm building :D
which will have a grenade launcher attached but since I'm a civilian i can only buy the flares but none the less they will be useful
i'll actually probably attach a knife to my gun or get the flash hider that's sharp(;
Keep in mind the civilian version is not the same size as the military version so any 203 rounds you find will not work
Tight Cloths
Short Hair
Worn In Boots
Side Melee (knife, crowbar, small things) Note: Crowbar preferd. Has more uses.
Main Melee (bat, pipe, mid to larger)
Single shot carbon
Rations
Radio With Head Phones (for news)
Flash Light
Fire Source
Medical Supplys
Painters Mask
Satilight Phone
Light Weght Bag to fit it all.

All I can think of now.
I Would use my HAZMAT mask i keep in my room, a Kbar knife, multitool, All purpose backpack, BDU uniform, NVG's, lighter and matches, and Infra red goggles
Not a totally bad thing just keep an eye on the cap and don't hack with it.
I have had some and they don't hold up over the long haul if used roughly.

If anyone wants to seriously discuss knives start up a thread.
A good rule of thumb is to ignore 99% of what hornetdiver says.
But this is that is in that 1% where he is not totally wrong.
However I would much rather have a K-Bar than that "survival" knife.
I have had and used both as a multipurpose knife.
I prefer the k-bar.

Aside from that there are some kick ass commercial knives out there that don't have to cost as much as a Randal or a custom knife.
