Im not here to tell you why Wal-mart is the best place to bunker down. Im here to tell you why you should stay away from it. One reason is that everyone is going to be heading there to get food and water and other supplies. All that is going to do is gather unwanted attention. Second if you think that all you have to do is run in the store and pick up some guns and ammo your dead wrong. Chances are there are still going to be employees there, and they are not going to simply hand you a gun, expecially if your a kid. Another reason is even if you manage to somehow get a firearm your not going to be able to use it because all the guns in the store no matter where you live will have a certain lock that only employees can unlock. And last when the power goes out the food will begin to go bad, and instead of dealing with the undead you'll be dealing with food poisonings and other diseases. To sum it all up, you should be prepared a head of time and avoid going to Wal-mart or any other large superstore.

like the hurricane's that mite hit fla.
yes but if you are the when it starts than you can get all that shit ahead of time plus it would be better to go with cereal and canned vegies. also all you need to do is open a package of gun locks that match what they have and there you go
Still there might be employess there and like I said there not just going to let you do what you want.
So you beat up the employees and take thier stuff. I completely agree on the Walmart thing but ya know best laid plans and all that.
Beating up the employees is only going to make things more tense and dangerous if anything your there for a few seconds to pick up food and water and thats it!
and the goal is to only be there for a few seconds. What's the point of talking an employee into giving you something in the middle of a zombie outbreak, when wait, if it's a zombie outbreak, why are there still employees at the walmart? Either they don't know it's happening in which case you're not gonna get the gun in a hurry anyways. Or if they do know i doubt they'd care so much as to still be there. If they were and they were good people they would be helping to just give the guns away, and if not, then they are just being asswholes. But if they didn't know about it yet, then in therory there isn't a big mob there yet. In which case one would be most wise to get what they needed as quickly as possible.
I promise i'm not trying to just argue with you. But more to the point if i'm gonna be at walmart i wouldn't be going for the guns or food anyways. I'd be going for the shoes (boots) medical suplies, rope, personal care items. Things that are needed, but people won't actually think about in such a situation. It's a later down the road thing.
True if nobody really knows whats going yet, get in the store buy what you need quickly and get the hell out.
I didnt say that Adams. I said if you start a fight with the employees your going to get in trouble and cause even more of a riot. I dont want to beat anyone up, cause like I said thats just going to cause more problems.
going to wal-mart at the begining of an outbreak is not a good thing to do but going there later like say a few weeks later might be better assuming its not infested with zeds or survivors and that there might not be a hole lot left ther but who no's you might hit the jackpot and if you cant get the locks off the guns there are other wepons they have there just go to the sporting goods section you'll find machetes or camp axes but i still wouldnt hold up there for more than a few days.
Not in my Walmart, everything there is completely locked. If I were to go in there for any reason it would be to just get some food and maybe to get something for my mom and sis to defend themselves with.
Hmm... really good point about waiting a few weeks. And very good point about the quality. I had considered both of these points, but felt that i would be getting into to much detail and I already am kinda long winded. Personally I would avoid walmart, because i hate walmart. But there are places where it is your best option. I think the walmart controversy is an important one. And one that comes up often in Zombie survival plans. I actually have this arguement all the time with my "survival group." I feel it's always important to keep options open and have an idea about how you would go about handling many different situations. To me walmart is a better then nothing option and shouldn't be completely counted out.
OK, lets think about this seriously here.....If (and when) there is an outbreak, more than likely when we find out about it, so will everyone else...which means EVERYONE under the sun is gonna be buying supplies and weapons and whatnot....it would be complete and utter chaos.....good luck trying to get anything anywhere.....

Not to mention the fact that when this outbreak does happen, I am gonna get my ass as far away as possible from large populations...maybe go out inthe woods, inthe mountains....somewhere...because in 99 percent of the movies and books that I have seen and read.....zombies flock towards where people would be. not a good scenario. You have lets say 800 to 1000 people running around a Wal-Mart, all lit up, filled parking lots (and probably accidents too) Everyone thinking about themselves.....at that point in time, the zombies would be the least of your worries. Best bet would be to have a zombie plan and be stocked up before it happened so you could avoid those situations.
