just a quick question. I was wondering if a zombies head being smashed is always its weakness. most of the time when the brain is destroyed they seem to go down, but is there an exception to this rule...because fuck, there is always an exception to a rule.

This is a subject of great controversy. My general philosophy is that it's not worth the risk, kill the brain and play it safe. However I think there are exceptions. For example I currently believe there are different types of zombism... Currently there's no definitive proof however. I would love to see some.
Kill the brain, kill the zombie. Severing the head will not do, because the head would continue to live. ;)
I agree, it depends on how you define "zombie" for like the infected in 28 --- Later movies were kind of zombies and they didn't need to be put down with a head shot. But in the most traditional sense a head shot is the only thing that will work.
Personally, for any creature, I go for the head. When you pull off a head shot, such a small target, it feels really nice and you just want to give yourself a pat on the back and take yourself out for a drink afterwards.

The zombie has many forms and depending which one we're dealing with, the head is generally the most effective. I mean, I guess you could decapitate a zombie and would think that would kill it, despite the damage being to the spine and not directly to the brain.

That and fire is always fun. You can always disable the creature to the point where they are unable to move and they rot away slowly under the exposure of harsh weather conditions.

Save a child, pop a zombie.
Even if it's not the head, I would argue that a headless zombie would be less dangerous as it wouldn't be able to hone in on it's target.

Also, as far as I know, zombies can't control their bodies if the head has been cut off and is lying on the ground.

As for fire.... it may be fun.... but be careful setting zombies on fire. They then become a walking pillar of flame, setting buildings and other things on fire. The last thing you need in addition to zombies is a huge fire that no-one has the means to put out.

great point.
Ok, so make sure it's a control fire. Or you can cut off a piece of flesh, set the zombie on fire, and throw the flesh so it follows it. Easy as pie.
pie...is...the. SHIT :~O
they can't you need a brain to control bodily functions
i Would believe a zombies head is always its weakness unless it was completely limbless, and nobody was close enought to the head. But when all else fails take out the head
Let me tell you this is the wrong approach. I'm proof that a Zombie with his brain carved up in a Dallas Hospital by the CIA can go on functioning just fine. One can even go on to run for Zombie President with a gaping hole in their head.

The question isn't how to stop a zombie, but how to embrace them. Soon they will outnumber the "living" population... let's stop this talk of genocide and embrace Undead Americans as part of our nation.
