Some people say things like Desert Eagles, Katanas, AK-47s, SPAS-12s, etc. when prompted for their weapon of choice, which chances are, they haven't actually used them. Mine's just a simple Ruger 10/.22 + red dot sight, which I have shot many times and qualified for Junior NRA at a perfect score with. So what's your weapon of choice (that you actually have access to!), and how experienced are you with it?

I do have a katana, have I been trained to use it no but its a sword and I can swing it. Actually I have many swords.
I am skilled with my guns, but little experience with my baseball bat, outside of its obvious game field use.
mauser K98 k bolt action rifle Yugo re-assembly. It only carries 5 rounds and and is bolt action, but its better then fighting with my dull sword!
I'm ex-Navy so I'm trained in M-14, .45 and 12 Ga.
I currently own:Taurus 9mm, Astra .380, Rohm .22 Mag, Ruger 10/22 and an old Higgins 12 Ga. (My granddads) a crossbow and various knives, swords, a machette and a nice hand ax.

Ammo: almost a thousand rnds of .22 LR, 200 rnds of maximag .22, around 800 rnds 9mm, 150 rnds of .380 and around 100 12 Ga. Shells.
I inherited most of the guns and ammo when my father (a small time gun dealer) passed away and I used to fire them and his AK-47 and SKS every time I visited... It was our "bonding" thing... wish Mom hadn't sold the AK and SKS before I could claim them but she promised me her Colt .357 and Walther P-22 when she passes.
I prefer Just a low powered semi-auto rifle, something with decent range and little kick, and if its lighter then you can carry it over long distances too. probably the .22, or a 2-43. I'm also reasonably well versed with a variety of swords, katanas, gladius, broad sword (not good for zombies), and the strait edge short sword. 9mm is also good, little kick and plenty of ammo lying around.
M1911 Pistol, replicas are easy to find whereas originals are pretty hard and quite expensive. I used it a few times in my life.
well i have but thats because it is a fire axe or crowbar and common hunting rifle. you know practical stuff. there is no way in hell you will have easy access to fully auto guns and if you do the ammo is easily wasted, heavy and hard as shit to find. You can fine a crowbar, fire ax, and common hunting rifle with ammo in any town in the whole united states. go for Practical not pray and spray. if you practical with you zombie survival join the group PZS: Practical Zombie Survival
I have actually used my weapons of choice (distance: Dragunov close: Crowbar/katana). I have studied sword fighting in various forms since a young age, including 3 years of kendo (which uses the katana specifically), and the crowbar translates nicely into the other swordplay I have practiced.

And, thanks to my friend's recent purchase of a Dragunov, I have gotten in practice with this rifle as well. However, I am open to more conventional firearms that will most likely become more readily available to me.
Nah, I haven't... However I do own a wooden katana, and at the very least I can bash the crap out of anything with it. It hurts like fuck, I accidentally hit myself with it. I suppose a club, or indeed, a crowbar, would be just fine for me. Or I'll just take up parkour. As far as I know, zombies can't do parkour. At least I'll be somewhat ready for the outbreak.
Glock 21 .45
definitely been used

Ak-47
not been used, shot an AR-15 but they jam too much for my taste

Machete
definitely used, sleeps under my pillow

Trenchknife
could be used, still looking for one

-L
Military surplus store or ebay for trench spike/knife.

And my brother has an AR-15, and the training to use it, I think after all the round he's shot he has yet to need to fix a jam...
I have access to my fathers gun safe which has a M-16 and AK-47
