Who here has actually used their weapon of choice?
Some people say things like Desert Eagles, Katanas, AK-47s, SPAS-12s, etc. when prompted for their weapon of choice, which chances are, they haven't actually used them. Mine's just a simple Ruger 10/.22 + red dot sight, which I have shot many times and qualified for Junior NRA at a perfect score with. So what's your weapon of choice (that you actually have access to!), and how experienced are you with it?

oops, how could I forget my Hi point 995 carbine with the laser sight... just straight up el-cheapo 9mm fun-gun. Gotta love it.

Unless many things change before Z-Day, I would stick with something simple in melee like a crowbar or staff. I have no experience with guns and would probably be more of a danger to myself and other survivors without practice. Zed has poor balance so not every hit needs to be lethal in mobile combat. Get them down and then finish them. Avoiding the use of your weapons in general is the only way to guarantee nothing goes wrong. So I suppose my brain would be the weapon I intend to use the most.

At some point it is probably a necessity. I am not going to pretend they are not effective. Someone with training and ammo can put a huge dent in a horde. I am not that someone though.

It is a tool like a saw or a hammer or an axe. There are ways to use it to be absolutely safe. It is a good idea to have your dad show you.

Like any new experience learning to shoot can be intimidating. Best to clear your mind of preconceived notions and TV bullshit and open your ears and mind to the guy teaching you. It's a great sport whether shooting at targets or putting meat in the freezer. Accuracy is an elusive goal and one that only you can get closer to, it's a great test of body and mind co-ordination . I wish you the best.

Living in a country where guns aren't very prevalent, I've never held one, let alone seen one in my entire life. And for the same reason I wouldn't have easy access to one in the Z-apoc. If by some chance I did get a gun my knowledge goes as far as point and pull the trigger so it would be of as much use to me as a disposable camera.
I'd prefer to stick with my hockey stick or something similar to that. Although my weapon mightn't necessarily kill a Zed, it could buy me time to make an escape and I'd know how to use it.
