I mean we hit the IED one second, and the next second I was climbing out of the humvee. It happened in a split second. When the exhaust blew up it sounded like I had my head in a solid steel can, and someone had let off a hand gernade inside it. When I said I couldnt hear anything for about an hour I mean anything. I could feel my heart beat in my ears though. The doctors in Germany told me that was because I had ruptured some blood vessles in my inner ear. Amazingly though, it didnt give me a bad concusion. Most of the time they won't even let you sleep for 24 hours, they told me mine wasn't that bad and to sleep all I felt like. I had some minor dizziness for a day or two, and that was about it. The hearing loss is what kept me in Germany so long. I hadnt had ringing in my ears for over a month, and they were still testing my hearing. Then they finally sent me back to Iraq, only to pack up the same day I got there to come state side for a year, before sending us all back over there. I hate the fucking desert.
