The purpose of this thread is to expand upon some ideas for our own Zombie Education and Survival Hand Book. I would like to avoid specifics if at all possible since I feel that every ones situation will be unique and all specifics will do is limit the options of survivers and encourage rigid adherance a set of rules.
I will start with a base set of guide lines that I feel are important, but since this is a community generated guide feel free to disagree or expand further on what I have layed out so long as you explain why or why not.
PLEASE! REMEMBER WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR SPECIFIC BUILDINGS I.E. SCHOOLS, MALLS, OR THE MILITARY BASE THAT I LIVE 3 MILES FROM, JUST WHAT OR WHAT NOT TO LOOK FOR.
One of the most importent thigs to remember is that you should make as many preperations as possible prior to an outbreak as possible. Finding a suitable location may not be as diffacult as you think. On your way to and from work or school you can keep an eye out for locations or I'm sure if you just sit and think for a minute you could could come up with many suitable locations in your area.
1. LOCATION.
Your location should be reasonably close. How close really dependes on your personal judgment and situation. It should not be in areas that are likely to be used by emergency response personel since those areas will most likely already be occupied or over run. It should be relatively easy to secure. It should be a reasonable distance from heavily populated areas in order to reduce the likely hood of a seige or reduce the number of infected involved. It should also have access to some sort of water supplie and not be in areas likely to be affected by natrual disaters, or should at least be likely to survive one intact. The structure should be made of a durable material that requires little to no maintnence and that is fire resistance such as brick or cement and should have a strong roof as well. The building should also have a perimeter fence surounding the area that should not be made of wood. It should have as few points of entry as possible yet allow for quick entry and escape. Multiple stories are also a plus since they will give you more options for storage and living arrangements as well as additional options in case of a breach............. This are a few options I see. I have left many things out in order save space and leave room to see what you guys think and to see where it could be improved.
