Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity: For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen, And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.

yea i kind of see it that way. also pain uasley hurts!!! great motavation not to get hurt
Pain in myself is: a good way to measure how much to dish out to any others who need a dose of revenge. It is also my body's way of alerting me that something's wrong.

Pain (according to one of my Shotokan senseis who just didn't get the philosophy behind the martial art he taught) is: your friend.

Pain can be a weapon and a shield at the same time. If not handled very carefully, it can turn against you.
I keep thinking back to the day in the dojo when we were told to do one-finger push-ups. I heard a distinct *snap* and looked over at the guy next to me. His finger bone had snapped and was sticking out at a gross angle. The sensei just looked over at him and said, "Pain is your friend!" I never went back to that dojo after that.

One of my favorite senseis said that during training, we should pay attention to any pain we get because it was an indication to stop whatever we were doing. That other sensei was married to a doctor....maybe she was just helping to drum up business!
sounds like you were with some crazy people. a little crazy is good but something like that is a little much for me.
The problem is these days is most people don't know the differance between discomfort and pain, they get alittle uncomfortable and they quit and the more you quit at the things you do the easier it becomes.
yea i know people get a paper cut and OMG the world is ending get to the ER i going to bleed to death LOL.
To manny quiters now but the zeds will take kare of them it is just going to make more work for us
You have to look at human beings as instinctual animals to know what pain is. We can stop to philosophize on it for days --- but in a world where the newly undead rule the night --- we have to keep a realistic frame of mind at all times.

Yes --- pain is as you say. An indicator to say: "shit man! that hurts! better cut that out right now" --- and it's usually right. Exercise should be done until the moment you begin to feel the ebb of pain in your muscles. You do not want to wake up the next day surrounded by the dead and without a muscle wanting to move in your body.

We naturally do not enjoy pain. Any person who does is tainted mentally --- and may find themselves unable to psychologically cope with the fact of pain on a daily basis --- both physical and mental.

Just like when you were a child and got curious about the glowing red burner on a stove ---

if it hurts ...
don't touch it.
you need to be able to put up with alot of pain, sprains bumps and bruses u got to learn to push through it. u kant just give up now or u will become a zed and thats got to be more painful than anything i kan imagain.
u kant be pushing yourself too hard now a days just enough to stay in shape kant have burring mucels for 3 days or hard to walk or its over.
and if u know its going to hurt u better stay away from it.
