My Apartment is 3 bedrooms and has its own set of stairs, easily torn down. lots of empty apartments to raid for supplies. But the obvious down side, The hundreds and hundreds of people living there.

My outbreak takes place in an appartment complex... The first part I wrote in my blog.
It continues in
Oh.Shit.Fuck.

... and for the record... I think appartment complexes are okay you if you're familiar with it and aren't against bashing in the skulls of your neighbors. It's also nice if the doors to each appartment are in an inside hallway and the doors to that hallway can be secured... that helps for a semi- controlled environment.
fully agreed.

The problem is fire.
?????????
thats why we NEED the zombocolypse to happen, lol
We also live in a apartment building. At the first sign of an outbreak we plan to flee to the north woods. We have supplies already packed in our van. Apartments may appear safe at the start but will quickly turn into a coffin for those that decide to stay in them. To many ppl, not enough escape routes and the food will only hold out for so long.
If the are any rescue attempts they may just decide to burn the place down with those infected inside instead of trying to search for those alive.
yeah i see what you mean. mine has private stairs which i can disable, but fire is a good point. i still think a beach house on stilts ids the best possible place for my area
ah yes. but beach house stilts are made to withstand hurricanes. and the only reason i mentiones getting rid of the stairs is because i work for the electricic company i have ladders in my house and on my truck. besides that i dont need to go downstairs in an apartment, all i need to go it use a fire Ax and open holes into the surrounding apartments.
well possibly. but the beach houses here in Galveston are not cluttered and filled with people. they're private. Most of them are on 10 acre plots of beach surrounded by a weak fence. We rented one last summer and it had its own generator and water storage unit. To get there you have to drive in the middle of nowhere through sand and beach to get there. So I don't think thousands of zeds will be there right away. like if i went downtown......but you make a valid point and that is something to take into consideration. that's the safest and closest thing to me.
Beach house is a good idea-360 view. But you will still have problems with food and fresh water.
but be aware of possible weather issues hurricanes, water spouts ect, with the eventual failure of technology you won't know whats coming at you weather wise
I definitely don't think one should just stay in the complex... but while you get everything you can together and come up with a plan, it may be convenient.

Step 1 is always assess the situation. I think it would be easy to do so in my complex. In others in may not be the same.
