I would love to hear some ideas for keeping children safe during an outbreak.Especially thinking about traveling to safer locations, modes of transport, keeping kids safe from other predators etc. During an outbreak I think I would immediately go to my child’s school to get her, but my maternal instinct would kick into overdrive and want to make sure all the kids were safe.
So what would you do?

bombs, lots of bombs.
Children; Saviors of humanity or Hindrance. An interesting topic.

I recently watched a movie by the name of Defiance about the Jewish people within Poland during Nazi occupation. The people hid in the woods and formed a community in which they lived and hunted and stayed alive. Now I don't know if I'd prefer to fight zombies or Nazi's but the principle that they lived by remains the same.

"Pregnancy's are forbidden. We don't have the available supplies or ability to care for children"

Children are unpredictable and unawares. No matter how much you teach them, one wrong sneeze, cough or scream could mean the end for them and the whole group. If I had children I'm sure I'd be singing a different tune but in my opinion, children are a liability.

Adults can produce children at any time, creating offspring for the sake of populating the world while the zombie apocalypse is still in its dawn is crazy.

Keeping children safe? Educate. Watch Reign of fire and see how Christian Bales character interacts with the children. You must teach them things such as stealth, cunning, adaption and resourcefulness. Also encourage them to use their senses. Kids can hear and see things that adults cannot due to keener senses. In this regard they may be an asset.

I think two words sum it up best. Duct Tape. :p
Maybe the virus sterilizes people if you become exposed and survive it..
Then the children are worthless also...
I’m in agreement with Valentine, kids are a major liability. People with young children, under say 14, are going to have a lot less chance of survival then say a group of all able bodied adults. I’d seriously avoid joining-up with a group that has more then 15% kids in it.
wtf, why do you hate children? are all children bad? and also, you dont have to be an adult,to be able bodied. I am in my teens and in amazing shape, and can do many things that adults can do. also, i think children would be more willing to follow orders if given, and less likely to turn on you or your group.
I agree Doc
seen zombieland... Columbus gets taken hostage by a 12-year old
As far as keeping a child safe, I would only find it neccessary if they were above the age of 8. Only because I don't know how concious I could be of them, always trying to keep them safe would ultimately leave me open to an attack, I don't really find it neccessary for them to stay alive unless they had there own will to live. Which would mean that they could do it by themselves. And no, I don't think that its bad or wrong of me to think so. I couldn't imagine a kid going through that kind of trauma. Plus, after the fact, I'd just make my own kids and then tell them fairy tales of the outbreak.
well for younger kids they can't use guns of course...i'm talking like 10 year olds....but you can hand them a bat or something and tell em "swing like hell"
This is a difficult discussion because there are always going to be 2 schools of thought. Those who have kids and those who don't. I have 2 kids - one is a year and the other is 12. The 12 year old I feel would be able to servive with instruction and guidence. He is pretty quick thinking and not one for rash action.
The younger one just wouldn't know any better - but then again Iknow some adults who would be liability also. So its a personal choice between the parent and their god.
I have spent a lot of time thinking about this. I have seen tons on movies where parents have had to make this decision. Some have been merciful and ended the lives of the youngest in a peaceful way.
I haven't decided yet if I would be able to do that.
It's almost like every other decision a parent has to make concerning their child - what is best for the child first, then what is best for the parent.
Here's to hoping I never would have to either. But I think about it sometimes and am still not at a conclussion.
children have wierd way of adapting to anything all we have to is teach them and most should survive
