Well, whats better? Bicycle or Car? Now your mind might jump right to car but; lets face it. The enemy is slow, anything beyond a jog will outrun them. Cars require gasoline, and I don't care how much of it you have backed up you always run the risk of running out and searching for more. Bicycles are portable and you can always have them with you. The only thing the car has going for it is power and warmth.
Other than that... Bicycle FTW

...Maybe solar car...

Unless its a hummer, or one of those trucks that scientist use to study volcanoes - I'd have to say a bike. Not just anyone either I would go for one of the newer folding ones or they have these bikes that after you use it for a while it has a sort of motor that can kick in if you need it to. Most bikes also come with extra bags and things to put stuff in.
I would have to agree with the person that said having a bike rack with you in case you need it, but there is not much you can carry on a bike, and what if the zombies are runners? there is a large opinion that dead turned to zombies will be slow but living people who turn will retain most motor skills and be quick on their feet, also if you find yourself surrounded you can run them over. but you need a large vehicle definitely a 4x4 of some sort military hummer would be best, not a domestic civilian model, and every keeps stating about roads being filled with other cars the only time that would be a problem is in a city or bridge where you can't go around, most of the time (and this is one reason for a 4x4 you can just go around your obstacles. and someone said something about having a bike to make the power for a quite generator setup instead of a gas one, but this is good also for a back up, there are many propane generators that are quite, florida is filled with them, which can power an entire home, since we lose power regularly during storms. so i wouldnt be to quick to limit myself to one form of anything. always have a back up, when the zeds are all around you don't wanna be stuck with only one choice, keep yourself open and ready to switch your methods.
I'll go with a horse.
wouldn't they be eaten by zeds or even people freaking for food?
you ever try to bite a horse that didn't want you anywhere near it let alone biting it? I have 6 horses. If they don't want you to do something to them you don't do it. Unless of course they are trained and they respect you.
Um, excuse me for being the voice of reason here, but you do NOT want to be standing at the edge of a hoarde attack with nothing but a little Schwinn and a smile to keep you safe.

Keep up people. That's like prepping for the zombie apocalypse and thinking that a crowbar and some throwing knives are all you need to stay alive.

You need to get yourself a light vehicle that can possibly be modded out for your own specifications. I advise using a Wrangler with the soft top removed, so that you can mount a gun turret in the back as well. Also, the roll bars are easily fortifiable with heavy-duty screen or steel plates or metal bars around it for a gunner. At the same time, its gas efficient, and if the Army used them for so damn long, goddamn it, so can I.

Also, the amount of people needing gasoline after Z day are slim...most will either be a zombie hamburger or a zombie, period. I don't think that the few people left in America after the apocalypse will use up the entire gas supply.

Its better to be overly prepared than not prepared at all. But you go have fun with your little bike horn and sparkly handle tassles ;P
can't carry a whole lot on a bike. Those hill will surely be the death of ya..
How much do you need to carry?
Unless of course, your car is an '88 Camry....
Where are you planning on getting this turret? And do you have the skills to mod this vehicle? I don't think so. Also, Its going to be hard to get around the masses of zombies, If you hit one chances are its going to do more damage to your car than your going to do to its body. Cars willl break, WILL break. And what then? you going to fix it up just like that? Lol I mwork with my dad on fixing car trannies and engines. I'v seen some fried cars. Some took almost a week to fix up. With three poeple all very experiance mecanics working on the same car. Think about that for a second dear. (: and just becasue i ride a bike dosn't mean I thin that I can survive the outbreka with a crowbar and a few cans of food. I have a very extensive plan for the long range survival.
This is where I would have to say that, as a member of the military, I'd go with my tank. Sure its not that fuel efficient but thats why you run a convoy. You have enough firepower to live through any Z's and, if properly lead, the convoy could find and ferry survivors to secured locations and deliver food/medical supplies.

As for blocked roads... if I couldnt roll over it I sure as hell can go around it.
I would say a car with a bike rack. While a bike has it's advantages, you're fucked if you come across a large group of zombies. A car has a lot of advantages compared to its disadvantages, so I'd say you drive a car and make sure to carry a bike or two- best of both.
