One Bullet Rule?
I haven't bought the book yet so I don't know what's in it, but I thought that if this wasn't in there it would make sense. Always save one bullet in your clip. Always. No matter how small the attack; no matter how insignificant. This is so in case you are overwhelmed, you can unload a round into your temple and die on the spot. I'm not encouraging suicide, but rather, ensuring the survival of the human race as a whole. If you can't save your own life; shoot yourself. This will prevent you from becoming a Z and only infecting more.

the only problems is that, when you're shooting at the zombies you dont really count how many bullets you've shot!!! So by time you realize you're going to lose....you've already used up all of your bullets!!!

true story... i don't count my bullets either and wouldn't in the given circumstance... maybe, always keep a spare bullet in your pocket to prevent unwanted use...

I think a fast acting posion like cyanide, kept on a chain around the neck would be a better choice.

that is a good idea but that wouldnt destroy your brain. cyanide would kill you but you would still become a zombie. So a gun or grenade would be best for killing yourself and make it so that you would not become a zombie.

If by book you mean the Zombie Survival Guide then no they don't mention it, or at least I don't think they do but quite honestly I would just go with the cyanide. If you keep it in breakable capsule (on a very short chain) you could simply bite down on it and voa-la. No new zombies.
But If I could I'd try to keep an insanely small pistol with a full six round chamber in my pocket.

if the capsule was so easy to break couldn't it break while on the run or during a fall or just on accident thus ultimately leading to your demise by rabid zombie maul

best solution dont find yourself in a spot were you have to die...keep in small 5-6 person group. and if you must die then go down with a fight...small bomb maybe dynamite kill yourself and the rest of those undead assholes.

I agree with A.l.x for the most part on this one: Don't die.
However, there are times in a zombie outbreak where you or a group member may become a danger to the rest of the survivors. In such a case I do not believe cyanide to be an option. Sure it might save you the pain of being ripped apart by the living dead but if you're already infected, you're just gonna come back from that sublime peace walking and moaning.
I believe that the bullet would be your best option. But the bullet doesn't necessarily have to be your own. in fact, I would say don't let it be your own. Take out as many of the undead fleshbags as you can with your own ammo and then let a fellow survivor pop you in the back of the head. This solves the problems of having to count your bullets, keep bullets in reserve, and worrying about that horrible chain around your neck where you foolishly keep your cyanide.
