The best weapon: medieval war hammer
I hate to place this as the best weapon but i have to. This beautiful weapon is also handy as a tool like say a hammer and has plently of reach why bother with anything else, I mean don't get me wrong a gun is nice but not everyone has great aim. i for one have bad aim and bad vision so swing a war hammer around is fun and is a great workout on the arms and body. Plus I love the fact that one side is a hammer and the other is a huge spike for head bashing. I have just discovered this wonderful weapon so please forgive my ignorance on the topic, I am still learning about this weapon and would love some input on it.

Not a home made one. Mine would have an extention of atleast 4 feet almost 4 feet. either way when your cornered your cornered and screwed no matter what weapon you wield. Sorry I don't rely on factory made to unreliable better to build your own or have some one customize your weapon of choice.

i personally dont want any undead close that i would need to use such an item. However because not all of us can obtain a "medival" type hammer the Holligan tool or even the trusty crow/pry bar would work just as well. Dont get me wrong the war hammer is badass im just throwing a few ideas out there.

You are right they work just as well. I think I would have the war hammer mostly for fun but I would rather be on a roof top with a rifle. I just love the sound of flesh being smashed and ripped (I used to be an embaulmers assistant loved it). I would kill for fun not survival and if that got me killed then at least I went out with a bang.

bad thing about a melee weapon is that a zombies blood is infected. If you swing a warhammer and smashed a zeds head it would go flying all over you. Good luck getting back into your hideout when your friends don't let you in cause you got zombie goo all over your chest! enjoy being infected!

Remember at that range, firing a gun will resort in airborne particles of the infected flesh and blood entering your eyes and lungs.

Ok, uh...no...I don't think i would have very many people with me just my husband. And I am prepared We have many mask(for paintball and other uses) and I'm not gonna be fighting naked I plan to kill for fun so i will have proper equipment and protection of course why hide anyways it is the end of the world go crazy for christs sakes its immoral to kill a person now wait till its ok. All I get to do is stab and slash trees and walls and other crap wheres the fun in that. i don't keep any company now so i doubt i will when zombies attack. oh yeah and of course ill enjoy being infected when the time comes I hope not everyone is taken out when the time does come then it really wont be any fun just wandering around not eating anyone (bummer). I'm insane I know you don't have to tell me, I spend alot of time alone...HAPPY HUNTING TO ALL!!!!!!!

As much as I prefer Snake Eyes over Storm Shadow, I have to agree with Cobra Commander. A mace is a far better weapon for this purpose than the war hammer. The war hammer is a good and trusty weapon, however, a mace with a moderate (4-8) flanges will do a much better job at busting skulls open due to the fact that the energy is trasferred into several points, where you mus have a more exacting strike with a war hammer. Ex. With a war hammer, should you strike the skull with say, the flat of the hammer, the energy is transferred over a greater impact area. On the other hand, a mace has no such "flat area" every surface on the head of a mace is a striking surface, designed to transfer energy into the target via the flanges. I have a mace myself (as Laz can attest) and let me just say...brutal...
