I really enjoyed Zombie Survial Guide. It needs to be moved from the comidy section but some people just do get it. Max Brooks wrote that book as real and hardcore as he could. Thats my favorite book.
I've read the zombie survival guide, which was great and I'm in the middle of WWZ which is also a great book.. I gotta check out Brian Keene's books too.. never heard of them..
My friend Brian wrote the best zombie books in my opinion. He didn't have a huge publisher so it only made a few hundred copies. Though I can tell you. I've read all of his first one, and I'm part of the way through his second. It is by far my favorite out of all my books. Which include ZSG,WWZ graphic novels such as Walking Dead, and Marvel Zombies. Which are pretty big contenders.
His books are titled. A Death That Would Not Come, and A Man Who Was Not There. He has also got a third written as well, but I can't remember the title at this moment.
I really liked Day by Day Armageddon. Another good series by the same publisher is "Plague of the Dead" and the sequel "Thunder and Ashes" authored by Z.A. Recht. Stay away from "Eden" by Tony Monchinski. It's a horrible book. Very thin plot with a lot of typographical errors and technical errors such as mistakenly referring to a .40 caliber Glock as a 40 mm Glock and inconsistently referencing the French FAMAS rifle as a FMAAS, FAAMS, FAMMS. There is a nine page introduction to the fictional author about how "cool" he is in his drifter ways.
Another good series is by David Wellington. He wrote "Dead Island", "Dead Nation", and "Dead Planet". I won't spoil it but he has a very unique premise on the creation of "smart" zombies and a supernatural zombie lord.

thanks for the heads up on Eden, I almost ordered it last week.
and I totally with you on Day by Day Armageddon, Z.A. Recht, and David Wellington, all great books. i'm looking forward to Day by Day Armageddon 2 and the third book in the Plague of the Dead series .
Right now i'm reading Rhiannon Frater's As The World Dies: The First Days-A Zombie Trilogy, you can find the first book online for free, and if you get hooked like I did, the second one can be found in ebook form at www.smashwords.com for $1.99, its a good read if you can get past the numerous pages in every chapter about missing her dead lesbian girlfriend.
Also: Brian Keene"s books, The Rising, City Of The Dead, and Dead Sea are pretty good, he puts a neat spin on the zombies, kinda like David Wellington
Has anybody read Pride And Prejudice And Zombies? I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's pretty good. And The Zombie Chronicles by James Melzer isn't bad, you can download the entire audio book from here.. http://www.podiobooks.com/title/the-zombie-chronicles-escape
I stumbled across the ZSG by casuality and I bought it right away.
Now I know my house can be considered a good shelter in case Zeds attack.
I found WWZ by accident too and I could not leave it on the shelf.
I love Brooks' style, his books are awesome.
