What do you think is the best type of metal for reinforcing things (doors, barricades, etc.) and for various building projects you may need to complete on Z-Day?
Personally, I like aluminum. Great strength to weight ratio, its flexible, and its found everywhere. And you?

titanium is brittle
iron or steel......they are the heaviest other than lead steel is stronger but I think iron weighs more and you need weight
heavy metals such as steel or titanium should be use for reinforcing
light durable metals such as copper, aluminum, brass, and other alloys are best for weapons and traps
iron fits in between so it can be used for tools, weapons, and reinforcing
Titanium actually isn't that heavy. It's really hard though, so it might be more useful as a weapons material.
Steel/iron would be a good choice. Welding steel is a fairly easy task.
Now this is a really valid point. If you have a welder present, it would be a great boon. You would be able fabricate reinforcements that were customized for the location at hand, provided you have the time. Aluminum is much too difficult to weld in an emergency, unless you're really good. So if you are going for stationary fortification, commercial grape building steel would be perfect.
Welding is done using mixed gases in tanks which require no outside power source. There only danger is the actual volatility of the gases themselves.
Carbon Reinfoced 2880 Tempered Titanium it's extremely hard to warp in anyway what so ever unless you have a welding torch.Really good for reinforcing anything.
Where could I acquire some of this?
well from anywhere that sells metal and if u were a guy that works with metal u can easily reinforce titanium with carbon and tempering is simple as heating the metal
Steel. I work at a metal fabrication shop, and i'm in good with the owner, so I can get good deals on any thickness or shape I need. ;) Other than that, yes steel is heavier than Aluminum, but that's the point. Remember Stenches are only as strong as the person they where before they turned. example: little old man that stands 5'9" and weighs 98 pounds and uses a walker wouldn't be very strong, in fact, he probably would have a hard time picking up a frozen turkey (25 pounder, dude has a lot of grand kids :) ), as a zombie his strength stays at the same level, but his endureance level is off the charts. In a strugle, you could hold him off for a while, but your muscles would tire and fail. You're zombie chow.
My point is: Zombies are presistant. To quote Jordan " Great strength to weight ratio, its flexible", the light weight and flexibliity would be its greatest downfall. But it does have its advantages over steel. As Jordan said, It's everywhere, and its easier to work with than steel. Aluminum has a significantly lower melting point than steel, so you don't need a blast furnace to melt it, which is handy if you need to make your own bladed weapons.
With aluminum, you need to consider the human threat. How long is a one inch thick, 3 X 7 aluminum door going to keep out a band of murauders? Now change that door to steel and your chances just increased. Plus the psycological aspect of the metal diffrence. The bandits see that the door is al. chances are they will say something to the effect of " It's only aluminum!" versus " Shit! That's steel, fk this." Granted, if they are desparate enough, even the steel door won't stop them. With that said, Jordan, aluminum was sincerly a cleaver first choise. I never thought of it in your terms before.

I can imagine aluminum being sufficient in smaller outbreaks if applied properly with lots of heavy bolts or screws, well anchored into a solid surface. Aluminum siding on your house would stop them for a while, but enough of them will eventually claw through it. Not having pain sensations (limited sensation?) enables them to tear apart things we wouldn't consider possible.
