Where would be the last place you would stay and guard if the hordes attack.

Your house......etc. These are examples, you can use any....as long as you know you can defend...also put a place where you would not defend (Yes,you can have guns, not a flamethrower...c'mon...you'd set them n fire...anyway) If you want you can put where...

Defend: ship. Sail, diesil motor, stocked galley, the whole she bang, and have my friends and family either with me or on another similar ship following me.
Won't defend: Mall, too many point of entry, not enough personel to defend it.

After dawn of the dead, every newb is like oh yeah, Mall! -_- I think the ideal place would be a small gated community. What do you think? After we clear the houses, we can take it over and just chill for a bit before moving on.

Yes especially here where I live guns are banned! The schools already have a exit plan so it's ok, but a gated community, there is many things there even food, supplies, farms are one places you could go or a gun,but the cattle may be infected, but gated community, nice touch guys!

a gated community would provide as many problems as the mall . unless it`s a military community there`ll be old busted fences probably half built walls but nothing extensive enough to stop hoardes of zeds , the gate might confuse em for a bit but it won`t be long before they get in ..
you need somewhere with high security fencing all the way round with a couple other exits that are reinforced and guarded and buildings on stilts or accessible by stairs or ladders that can be moved to prevent the zeds climbing up .. :)~

id use it as a safehouse kind of thing, with people from my survivor crew to help and barricade, we'd build in the morning. at nght is when you stay, you will be able to see some of the tactics that id maybe use in a discussion on the role playing forum. It's about me. It's one of my first storie on this and since others of mine have fallen apart and came out rubbish. But I do see your way of thinking and you'de have a pretty good shot at it if a virus was being spread.

I'd stay away from wide open areas like parks, beaches, anywhere with lots of long dark corridors or places that large numbers of sick or dead were taken to. If I could, I’d bunker down at my local Costco. It’s got generators, solar panels, tons (literally) of non-perishable food, tools, kitchens, bathrooms, nearby gas station, a camera equipped security, lots of toilet paper and all the doors are make of steal. Can’t do better then that!

Yep, that's a really good point. That's what I'd do thank god for costco coming to Scotland lol and I've got an Ikea right next to it, but the only problem is the vast population that go to those type of places. That's be somewhere I'd go after a while. But it's not much use with solar panels for me coz in Scotland you know bad weather.
