Where would be the last place you would stay and guard if the hordes attack.

E.g.
A barnyard
A School (hmmmm)
An Airport
Your house......etc. These are examples, you can use any....as long as you know you can defend...also put a place where you would not defend (Yes,you can have guns, not a flamethrower...c'mon...you'd set them n fire...anyway) If you want you can put where...

I would stay in a prison. There are several around the country with High walls that surround the entire facility. Prisons with just fences are not ideal beause the weight of the zombies on the fences would eventually give in.

With a prison with a wall and inner compound you have a lot more resources. You have a secure farming area to grow your own food. Most prisons stock food to feed a population for at least two months. They have generators, fuel, vehicles, backhoes, armories (lots of weapons and ammo), protective clothing (riot gear) perimiter towers and are super difficult to get into or out of. Not to mention radio equipment, tools, welding equipment, woodworking equipment, electrical supplies... etc. Its a mini city all inclosed by a wall.

The only issue is what about the current residents who did not get out???? Average prisons hold 300 to 2000 inmates. Pelican Bay, San Quentin... Big prisons with lots of residents... Supermax facilities with the biggest baddest zombies in the country... What to do???? Do you take the risk for the benifits?????

Check out Attica, ADX and USP Florence ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADX_Florence ) in colorado on google maps for overheads.
Makes me wonder if you read the Walking Dead series of comics :)
I have. But I had the idea way before I ran across the Walking Dead series. In addition, in the Walking dead series the prison the survivors inhabit does not mention all the other resources available to survivors.

A real prison would have hundreds of weapons... shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols, assault rifles.. etc.

I work in a prison so I know what is available and once secure it would not be difficult to defend. Especially if the prison had a inner compound area like the one in my initial post. Not to mention all the perimeter towers, power house, vehicles, and on site gas station!!!
But what of the prison's original inhabitants? With all these resources on hand wouldn’t it provide the inmates with an ideal refuse to holdout themselves. So you might be able to get to the prison, but it might just as easily be inhabited by those who would make the zombies outside look tame by comparison.
Well that is a question, there are rumors of a government directive which states that in the event of super catastrophic event such as a war on U.S. soil or zombie holocaust all inhabitants would be terminated. So then you really would not have many live occupants but a large number of Zombies to deal with!!! Again this is just a rumor but if its just a rumor...... how did it get out????
Yes I hope I have a GOOD nearby prison so I'd be safe.
All about location location location. I wouldn't pick just any prison... Federal facilities are extremely well equipped!
prisons a great idea for a long term seige :)~
Yeah I'd either go to Costco, the castle by me, Edinburgh castle (but if it has to happen I'd prefer it when i join a gun club lol, if you can here... I live in Scotland. I think you have to buy a permit.) or I'd go toa prison etc. It's a good place to go. And the other thing is the people in the prison would be aware of the threat most likely. So they would either abandon the criminals or stay in, safe and sound. the criminals would be sent free, sent to work, killed or help us.
how about the city beneath edinburgh . i`ve always wanted to go there . sounds a good place to hole up ..
Oh I've heard of that, you're either talking of Scotlands secret bunker(Not such a secret now, lol!) or another one, which I may know what you are talking about, lemme look into it.
Ye, it does sound good, theres also edinburgh castle, great defensive, still cannons and drawbridges and everything.
