If we were to stumble into a Class 4 Outbreak, zombies everywhere/ world in chaos, or even in an early stage 3, I think everyone overlooks another big threat.

Survival.

Granted, a person can be calmed down. A person can be reasoned with, persuaded and even pacifed into commen sense.

However, in the middle of a zombie ridden world, mass hysteria is bond to happen and at some point we're going to find ourselves with resources dwindeling. Walmart food does have a shelf life, believe it or not, and people can get pretty nasty when they are starving, dying of thrist, in need of medical supplies or transportation.

And given the circumstances, they could very well be armed.

So, I'm sure everyone here is sound on where their moral stance is on killing zombies.

But what about your fellow man?

Sure the overlooked question, you have a year supply of food for everyone in your family and several aches of land to grow on , now you have to deal with zombies and starving neighbors the best thing you could do for simple survival is join with as many like minded people as you can and hope to work together for mutual survival , with out it turning in to a servant master thing or losing control to some outland over lord. , because your going to bring in every starving living person when your cooking in the back yard because the power or gas has been off for the last six months , also in a group situation what do you do with the guy who thinks every thing should be handed to them do you resort to the laws of nature and evict them or do you let things descend that far
Good point.

Stupid/ignorant/obnoxious people will be just as dangerous as any undead.
Easy. Just because society has crumbled, doesn't mean that the laws were flawed. Do unto others, as you would have done unto you. Golden rule. Obey it or gtfo. Easy as that. If you're a guest in my home/base/fortress, what have you, and you start acting up, that'll be punishable by death. I will not have the lives of the people around me be jeopardized by a fool who thinks he can rob me of resources that are mine. Simple as that. It sounds harsh but its just the way things are gonna be like. If I can help you, fine, join up with us to survive, but don't expect me or my group to cater to you. Pull your weight, and there won't be any problems.
if it got down to it yeah i would take them down as well
I have a friend who is fairly wealthy...4 houses, nice cars, etc. I had a frank discussion with him recently regarding his "Preparations" in relation to the real possibility of a survival scenario and he became very animated about all the things he planned on doing to get prepped. Unfortunately, he seems to think that I will be taking care of him, defending him etc. during this crisis when the truth is, I have my own family to worry about and I am doing most of my prepping for them. He on the other hand seems to think I'm going to pull his fat out of the fire even though he has done nothing but talk. When the shit hits the fan, his wealth is useless. While I scrimp and save every penny to put towards the things that will mean the survival of me and mine and he does nothing, he can take that roll of hundreds and jam it straight up his ass because I am not going to carry him. Where I live there are many rural areas that one can flee to in times of trouble. Everyone pulls their own freight, or find somewhere else to land...
Funny how everyone assumes that they will not be the Stupid/ignorant/obnoxious people.
People who just plain kill each other for their stuff or their own food (which im speaking of the bodies of humans) They will not help at all.
Survival of the fittest, Ummm this is a tough one. If my life was in depending on it sure
it's not just the fighting for supplies but also defending it. i think a lot of people will also just barricade themselves inside a megamall with a gun and start shooting people when they try to get in.

i will kill these people if i get a chance. if there are people starving and 4 people are having a private party in the supermarket, then they are just as bad as the zombies in my opinion. just take what you need so everybody else can do the same. then again if somebody points a gun at me for a sixpack, i'm just gonna let him have it.
I have to agree that people may be an even bigger threat than the zombies themselves. but there are some other things to consider--

In my experience, people will bond together to face crisis. We've seen it before, just as sure as we've seen people fall apart under the same circumstances. I believe there will be much to fear from your fellow man, but at the same time they are the ones you can depend on. It is other people who will be the salvation of mankind, a double edged sword. So when it comes to slaying your fellow man, I say there must be another way. Call me naive, call me hopeless, but if it can possibly be avoided in any way, I will not kill my fellow man.

In order to aid me in this, I have something for everyone to consider: the study of psychology. Knowing how people's minds work is an invaluable tool, and studying psychology is one of the best things you can do in a zombie outbreak. First of all, you will know yourself better and be able to handle your reactions to everything around you a bit better. Second, in dealing with your fellow man, you will be able to read their true intents, convince them of things easier, and in general be able to handle other people better in a situation where it is IMPERATIVE that everyone can understand each other. So my recommended solution to this problem is a deeper understanding of psychology.
for the first few weeks, the wolves will pray on the sheep, as the sheepdogs will be busy elsewhere. but in the longer view the sheep will either have to learn to defend themselves, or die out.
people are definitely gonna be a bigger threat then the undead, people that can think, plan premeditated killing and organize against other people if they see something they want. i completely agree with beth women for sure need to gain strength and learn how to protect themselves. they will be most violated by lawless men. it's actually really scary if you think about it. my family comes first, you may get a warning from me but dont count on it. i will be mostly shooting first and asking questions later. and will not be taking other survivors if i can help it. i have seen humanity and it scares me alot more than zombies. people cant work together for the most simplest of tasks. throw in hysteria and desperation? yeah good luck with that. people are greedy and lazy by nature. if they dont have to work for something, they wont. they will just take it.
