I don't know if Brooks covered this in the guide. I haven't read all of it yet.

Would a solanum infected organism eventually die out after starvation?

It is noted in the guide that they do not show any biological need to eat, they just do it. They don't digest anything obviously because their bodies are dead.

Does the starvation factor only apply to some zombies? For example, the ones in the movie, '28 Days Later.'

What do you think?

Max Brooks notwithstanding, the solanum virus is but one cause of many to zombification (or those that I call "close enough so stfu if you can't deal with it" such as the aforementioned "rage virus" zombie).

i just can't deal with it.i don't understand. i can't comprehend it. lol jk jk jk
Wonderfully said, Brigitta and Lil D. It would seem to me that most zombies feel only the powerfull urge to eat, not the need to, so I believe that the powerfull weapon of starvation would not apply in most situations.

However, although starvation may not apply like it does in examples such as '28 Days Later', wasting or slowly rotting away might. So with approximately the same amount of patiance, you can achieve the same effect: immobile or harmless zombies that are easy to dispatch.
exploding pie would do the trick, the last force-fed meal those rotting meat sacks will ever get...hahahahaahahaahahaahahaahahaahahahaahahahahahaahaahaahahaha . hahahhaha ow my stomach hurts time for strudel lol jk
Zombies are like kenetic energy...always in motion. Starving them wouldn't be an option. 28 Days later "zombies" weren't dead, just infected. Technically they'd be dead before a week was out if they weren't smart enough to eat or drink.
Zombies can't die of starvation, but they will eventually decompose completely after about 5 years. So atleast there's a date to look forward to when you're in your anti-zombie hole in the post-apocalypse.
Well in 28 days these were not true zombies they are not dead they were "rage victims" they did not need to be shot in the head to put them down, but hey whatever works,They tend to act like someone on PCP a shot in the arm or leg wont seem to affect them ,cops have told me that some times it takes multiple tasers to bring down a guy on PCP and all that time he's trying to rip your head off.If you look at the way a human body breaks down when it starts to decay you see that the tissue tightens and this is accounts for some of the stiff jerky movments of Zack, newer fresher reanimated have been reported running and to be very agressive but as rigor sets in this should slow them down.So I don't think that you could starve out the virus it's going to be with us for a long time so any dead body can reanimate in area that has been designated all clear,so all emergency precations should remain in place for the disposal of the bodies i.e decapitation, cremation we have a National Guard construction unit here that will accept remains for proper disposal they have a large pit at the landfill that the bodies are placed and burned with flamethrowers
If all Zack ate was brains then there would be no Zack, they need a brain to reanimate..
The zombie should wither away, break down, and not be able to move after time goes by UNLESS the virus prolongs the time it takes to break down the zombies body.
The zombies in 28 days later werent so much zombies as the were crazies. A zombie is technically dead because many of its vital systems have ceased to function including heart, lungs, and digestive tract. A zombie could never starve because they do not require nourishment. (Why zombies lust for human flesh is still a mystery). The crazies in 28 day later were, biologically speaking, still human and very much alive. Their vital systems still functioned, making them as easy to kill as uninfected humans. It is a fantastic movie but only a movie, if you were ever attacked by real zombies, dont expect conventional methods including starvation, to save you.
