Hypothetically, let's say you have a friend who is totally incompetent, but you hang out with him just for laughs. One day, there is a large-scale zombie invasion, and you and a couple of other friends, much more competent than the afore-mentioned, all get together. Your loser friend is also with you, and early on he already shows signs of mental instability. He is a stress-eater, screws up everything you tell him to do, and you are beginning to be afraid of letting him have a weapon, lest he turn it against one of you. Still, he's always been there for you ever since you were kids, and you owe him for saving your life once... what do you do?

i'd probably say oh well and he'd have to fend for himself. because in a catastrophic emergency like that, you can't have a retard keeping you all back and getting everyone killed
Well-put!
A friend is a friend...up to a point. Help educate him if you can. Try to alleviate his stress, but when he becomes a danger to you (as far as harming you is concerned) part ways. Some people will be "selected out" as far as survival is concerned. I know this sounds cold, but the world has changed. You have enough worries with the undead, why add a potentially unbalanced person into the equation.
I think you have had the best response yet! Well-put!
Thanks!
i have a friend who is just like the type of person you portray. his name is Ron but the only thing different about him is he is highly intelligent. i don't think i could deal with the thought of leaving a friend behind
I think I would be too quick to leave someone. I'm usually very calm, but the second I feel stress, I start hating the first person that gives me reason to, no matter who they are. You doesn't really know how important friends are though, until you are missing one...
Sounds like you may be that "Friend"
Nah, I'm not useless!
Honestly speaking, if this person is so incompetent, I don't think they would have survived an outbreak to the point that we're discussing. However, if they did, I would try to make things work, but if he indeed screws up everything, chances are he'll end up dead by pure accident or on his own. Life is harsh, life with a zombie invasion, is worse. Only the ones with a strong will to live, and a mindset to do so will survive, really.

Natural selection or whatever. The weak of the species get dwindled out. As a final statement, if he was endangering everyone else, we'd speak to him about it, if its not resolved, we leave him with some things and continue to survive without him. Everyone else is dead - he's just one more to the pot.

Was that harsh?
No, it was good!

Just the way things roll. If someone isn't pulling their own, everyone is going too suffer the consequence.

Either cut the weak link out or devise a tactic too heighten the situation.

If the situation cannot be helped and the weak link proves to be incompetent,

volunteer them for the greater of the good. In any situation, given the right variables, anyone can be expendable.
