.... dont stop to you drop
on top of the Washington Monument, with a sniper rifle, SMG, and tons of food and ammo. if you've ever played fallout 3, you know what im talking about.
Helm's Deep. :)
on a big building crane or construction side.
I live on the shore of Lake Erie in Ohio, and although i hate the water,,id probly have to say id idle on a boat not to far off shore, make tons of noise and try to play sharpshooter. Id rather have a escape plan than tying myself down to one location. In das boat i could patrol the boarders,,send out distress calls for survivors to get to the shore and id pick them up and take them to saftey, but if i had to id turn that boat upside down propellers roaring and id sit on top of the boats underbelly and you know..make my last stand xD
Are you SURE that's a good idea?

Would you have the fuel, the supplies(food, water, ammo, backup guns, backup WEAPONS((melee))) to last more than a day?

And wouldn't your ship need maintenace? I would suspect so since you imply it's big enough to hold a large number of other civilians on shore, you would need to have someone to help keep things running while you charted and steered. But you shouldn't do it all by yourself, that's precious extra energy you'd be burning. Still so, even if you did get the extra help, that's twice the supplies you'd be using up for every person that joins you. And how would you screen for infected?

But finding anyone who'd want to try and get to you is another problem, you said you were going to make tons of noise and "play sharp shooter" drawing the attention of hordes at you and potentially making it a good idea NOT to pursue your vessel because of the (swarm level 3 of 5, I'd suspect) horde of undead that are attracted to the noise you make.

Even STILL, you are assuming some major good faith, my man. Who's to say the people that contact you aren't going to "force" the boat out of your hands either by tossing you on land or worse?
I like what was said earlier.....last stand not as long as i'm alive. or some thing like that haha but in this i live in i would stand at the labrary the sheriff station is right across the street and i have plenty of food sources aswell within walking distance. I'm close to see what happens to our local defense and not in their building, I'm secure but with plenty of exits entrances. Even a killing hall if needed or wanted. And the best part I have books and no one that will try to get there first or take it after I have it.
I think it's not wise to stay inside anywhere at noon til dusk....
The best way to survive is always moved from one place to another in a small group and don't be too noisy ! Always prepared for the worst part ! If it's zombie or infected people, don't think twice ... cut off their heads instead !
My house is fairly good. Surrounded by walls which would make it difficult for anything to get over, woods nearby for fuel and hunting, a fireplace in every room, a food shop nearby which could be raided, open views and difficult terrain all around, very few neighbours. Ideal. Now all i need is to negate the dangerous mass that is the British legal system and get myself a rifle.
i would go on the grochery store to kill the zom with a 12 gage
Home Depot, Lowes, or any other similar hardware store. Think about it, who the hell is going to be at home depot during an infection? Granted, there might be some people there, which is why you lock it down and start a slaughterfest on any zeds inside. The sheer amount of building materials at your disposal makes fortification simple. In addition to that, the tools and supplies make great weapons, and allow you to make greater weapons and traps. Finally, the gardening section of these places allow you to grow your own food on the roof when you run out of scavenged products. Forklifts, rider mowers, generators, and other heavy machinery have many applications for survival as well. Hell, you could probably tunnel your way to a Walgreens, or Safeway or something from a home depot. Preferably in a state where the climate gets below freezing. Frozen zombies. Hehehe.
Um...the safe house?
