I would have to say the MP5k. It can hold quite a bit of rounds, its light weight, the bullets are light weight and all you need to do to is kill the brain so the 9mm bullet would work wonders. and with its compact design shooting in narrow spaces is fairly easier than the all American M-16
Longbladed weapons will do nothing but get you killed when dealing with a zed. The angles of attack are too limited for a stabbing blade to pierce the brain, and slashing weapons are useless against zombies. Decapitation? Forget about it. I don't care how sharp your blade may be, unless it's got the kind of weight you get from a claymore, it's not going to sever the spinal column. And a claymore is way too heavy to be able to wield very long. Forget the video games and moves.
An axe would work, but again, you have the same issue with weight, plus the concern of sticking. Still, acouple small to medium axes around your safehouse wouldn't be a bad idea. If you can find one not too cumbersome, having one in your pack could be a good move, too.
Alright, I haven't been here for a while and I see this post going on and on... let's get some things strait:
The best weapons to use against zombies would be anything that you can get your hands on that you can use on them at a distance. Rockets, rifles, guns, stuff of that nature. In a perfect scenario, you have something that you can use via remote control while you sit your happy little behind safely behind a monitor.
Regardless of what people say, katana aren't that heavy. Most weigh in the 2-3 lb range and if balanced right, won't cause that much fatigue. (It is all in the quality of your sword. If you spend $30 on your katana, don't be surprised when you get $30 worth of katana. My katana is worth about $2500, and there are some that are more expensive ie, Howard Clark swords.) But still fatigue will still be a factor, but you must remember that close range weapons like that should only be used as a way to get out of the situation as fast as you can. Case in point, you are making a supply run and ammo is out. You pick up your katana and fight through a few zeds to make your way to shelter. You shouldn't go out just killing for no reason, it just doesn't make sense.
Crowbars and hammers are good in a pinch, but they are too short. In order to use one you'd have to be in bite range and who really wants to purposely put themselves in danger for that?
Flamethrowers would just turn the walking dead into walking torches. This would be bad if they are in or around a building or shelter and would just burn the whole thing down.
Axes are great, but they are too heavy. They do a lot of damage, but they are just too unwieldy for practical use.
And I have cut through a cow carcass and pork shoulder with a katana, yes, like the Cold Steel torture tests, and they have cut through the rib bones we well as the meat. And since the cows rib bones and the pork shoulder are thicker and tougher than a skull or spinal column, you will be fine using it to cut the head off a zombie.
Take it from the old Deathwalker, there is no single zombie fighting weapon that will be the end all, be all. Insted I prefer the 12ga shotgun, fireing 00 buck, the AK47, M4 family, Mini 14 or 30 and or the 30cal rifle. Also a good knife and hand axe are allways nice to have.
The .22 mag is also a decent weapon against zombies. Like say a shotgun would blow the head clean off but the splatter of the head would most likely land on you and find some way to cause infection. The .22 has almost no exit wound and does equal damage
crowbars and Baseball bats the wooden kind though. guns are good but do cause problems like reloading. And don't think well that is what ammo is for well stop because you will run out. who will make bullets when the zombies come. hmpp
