NO!!!!!!!!!! BAD IDEA THEY WILL BECOME WALKING RADIATION CONTAINERS!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL DIE OF RADIATION POISONING SO QUICKLY!!!!!!! also, a nuclear device is in no way tactical.
IF THE LIGHTSABER WAS INVENTED I WOULD GET MY HANDS ON ONE AND KILL AS MANY UNDEAD BASTERDS AS POSIBL BUT AS YOU SATED THERE NOT INVENTED YET SO I WOULD ALSO GO WITH A BATTEL READY KATANA OR A BATTEAL READY MACHETE. (BAD SPELLING)
almost all machetes are battle ready, theres really no point in having it battle ready, cause theyre used as tools, to chop wood (Kukri), or brush (standard version.)
I'm in Canada, where handguns and assault rifles are hard to come by... thank the gods my father-in-law is an avid sportsman, so there are several hunting rifles, ammo, and reloading tools readily available to me... I grew up shooting gophers in the pastures so I remain fairly confident in my abilities with a firearm... too bad Calgary's military base was folded years ago, that significantly reduces my chances of laying hands on a C7A2 or a C8 carbine... firearms and other projectile weapons will be essential, especially in the initial flight to our respective safe houses...

However, a backup will always be necessary... if you get caught flat-footed while reloading, or if ammo runs short, or if the quarters are just too close to get an effective shot off... you have to be ready to go melee... my evac team has some people specialized in each...

katanas and other swords require a lot of skill, training, strength and endurance... if you intend to use them against a similarly armed and skilled opponent... I haven't seen anything to convince me that Z's are capable of tactical thinking... grab some friends and some $20 training swords from your local martial arts supply store and spend at least a couple afternoons a month beating on each other ;)... I'm partial to one-handed weapons myself, and am constantly on the lookout for good war-axes or tomahawks... this frees up your other hand for a shield, a pistol or another blade... but there is something to be said for the raw power of a 25 pound sledge...

another advantage of melee weapons is that the upkeep is substantially easier... once you know how to sharpen a blade, you can sharpen nearly any one with nearly anything... all you need is something harder than the blade... if the firing pin in your AR15 breaks, you better have another AR15 (or a machine works) handy...
Canada has a long standing tradition in hunting. It wouldn't take much to adapt those skills to killing zeds. Canada has a good group of snipers in Afghanistan helping us out. One-shot-one-kill skills plus a lifetime spent in extreme cold makes you guys perfect for the job.
That's very true Gregory... the longest range sniper shot on record was made by a Canadian soldier in Afghanistan... 2,430 m (or 1.51 miles)

I forgot to mention that, as a Half-Life player, the crowbar will always have a special place in my heart...
Half Life. Isn't that one of those games where all the players are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime? I'd like to be built like that.
Remember people, guns are pretty useless without ammo! If you have a gun, it should be used as a last ditch weapon. Gun shots will attract more zeds, and when your clips empty, if you dont have anouther weapon, your stuck! Im a fan of the trusty hammer and boot. Yes you have to be close, but its hard to break and can break a skull in one hit. I would keep a pistol of some sort as a last resort. Also, for those going on about katanas, what good will one of those do in a close corridoor? you wouldnt be able to get a decent swing in without hitting a wall. yes it would be awsome, but when surviving you have to think, can it break easy? and can it be used in every situation?
wrecking bar 'nuff said
I load my own. .45 Long Colt. The current situation s make it hard to get some of the ingredients needed but you'd be surprised what you can do on your own. Homemade Guns and Homemade Ammo is a book from the early 1980s written by ROnald Brown. He considered himself a survivalist. I don't know if he's still alive or not but the book is available on Amozon for about $15. $18 with shipping. It instructs you on hpw to make your own smokeless gunpowder, reload bullets, etc. It also shows how to make a very effective single shot gun. Where there's a will there's a way.
silencer, duh! reload your own...
i got a new one, a sniper crossbow, with high velocity explosive bolts, and a large capacity.
