If you don't have a bazooka about the place, use those fists!
But, if you're determined to exit sans conflict, get to roof (through attic if required) and wait'em out.

I am a zombie expert, if there are 5 or less zombies directly at the door, let them in, grab any blunt, durable, weapon you can find that is at least 2 or more feet long, watch your flanks, and aim for the legs. Once all 5 or less zombies are on the ground, make sure they stay there! After they're down, aim for the head and finish them, this is alot easier than it sounds, especially if you are in a group of any number, zombies are slow at getting up, very, so if you see one starting to get up, smack it!
If theres more than 5, barricade the door with any heavy object you can find, make a long rope from any durable fabrics you can find and attempt to repell out the window given theres no zombies down there waiting, if there is, stand your ground and prepare for a fight. If possible, bring a latter, get any supplies and equipment you can and get to the roof immediatly and stare there, but make sure you have enough supplies and equipment to last several days. Make sure that you
also destroy the entrance to the roof, thats what the latters for. Stay completey quiet up there, make it seem like the building has been abandoned, the undead WILL break into the building, search it for prey, then wander off. Stay on the defense, stay quiet, and stay alert. If this works out, witch it will, message me, tell me your current status, and ill give you futher instructions.

I would jump out the window, or try to climb to the top of my roof, esp at my old apartment, things wouldn't be good either way, i don't have engough upper body strenght to pull myself up, probally, and i lived on the 3rd floor of a apt building, 30-40 foot drop to the ground would not do much good to me, but i would take my chances...

it depends what weapon you have, if one at all!, and how many zombies are there. If you had a pistol at least and a lot of zombies comming after you then the solution is simple. BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF. of course that would be my option.
