it only takes one of them to know you're in there. One of them must have either heard or saw something that looked delecious and, ergo, many more will come to join them.

It may also be the result from some semblance of memory, it may have ment something to someone before their reanimation...we don't really know

Zombies do indeed possess the ability to smell. Their sense of smell is certainly hindered because the nasal cavity is rotting; however he or she may may still be able to detect you through a closet door (if the building were breached).

What I think it is is they just walk around randumbly until they find some evidence that there is a survivor in a building and then they just try to break in and find all survivores.

I disagree. Zombies only resperate in order to make a moan or groan.
The soft tissues in the sinus cavity are the first to begin to rot. If your sense of smell is inferior to a dogs, why would it suddenly become ramped up after you die? Not looking for a fight, just looking at the subject logically.

Zombies have been known, given ideal wind conditions, to be able to smell fresh corpses from a distance of more than a mile. Zombies have a more acute sense of smell than humans do. Air is always circulating in a room even without the AC on. Thus they are able to smell you even through solid objects. Imagine being in your home, you are in your bedroom and your mom is in the kitchen on the other side of the house cooking, lets say its your favorite food, you will be able to smell it even through a closed door. Zombies can do the same with things such as sweat, pheromones, etc. This, however, doesnt mean that ghouls have a greater sense of smell then humans, simply that they just rely on it more.

and i thought zombies do not require oxygen so they wouldnt need their nose o.0

If you were pile your self with strong smelling odors, the zombie would smell those. Zombies aknowledge every sound, smell, and sight that humans dont susc as birds or dogs. Its also that even when you think your completely silent, your still making the smallest sounds like breathing, heart, etc.

yo if your rotting, i think they only thing you'd smell is rancid ass flesh, just watch out for the Axe body spray burring the invasion and you'd be alright.
