So, we all have big, bombastic plans for dealing with an outbreak. Some seem well thought out, others a tad... cavalier. At any rate, some of us are sure to survive.
So, I pose this question: Presuming we're talking about a global outbreak, the end times and all, anyone thought about long term survival? Rebuilding, living in a post zombie world?
Personally, I think it's a given that government and social order will collapse pretty quickly. Pockets of survivors will be on their own. I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts on coping with that.

You can pretty well tell that they're coming (at least, long enough before hand to sprint to a safe place) and people who live on the coast know when hurricane season is.
I was just thinking that it might be either an advantage or a curse, depeniding on how lucky you are.

I mean, I'd consider a tornado a miracle if it hit while the zombies were knocking down my door, because it might give me a chance to escae.

On the other hand, it might also be really bad if you were perfectly safe and then had a tornado blow a whole in your 'cades.
(excuse the spelling, I'm in a bit of a hurry.)
Find a way to get to the ocean, get to a very small, secluded island like one of the keys, and live out the rest of my life there.
Another big concern to think about: Antibiotics. Sure, you can raid local pharmacies to get the essentials in the weeks and even months following a total outbreak, but those things have shelf lives. A year or so down the road, antibiotics will be mostly useless. You could find yourself dying from a hang nail or tooth infection.
A healthy immune system is a must.
Maybe having a doctor or some hippies around could be useful.
People managed to survive long before antibiotics came around, so I think it would be possible to survive without them again. Although humanities list of immunities is probably lower than it used to be since we are generally exposed to fewer diseases. And there would be many things that could no longer be treated, but with such a mass cut back in population diseases wouldn't spread nearly as much.
True to a degree. My concern would be some groups would more than likely be in close quarters, which can pass contagion fairly quickly. Couple that with the problem of waste disposal, and you have a potential problem. Actually, now that I think of waste disposal, the question arises about waste that was already there pre-outbreak. Sewage treatment and removal will be non-existent. Another reason to stay away from cities.
i'm definitely thinking mountain areas as my place to escape to. somewhere up high, where there's not too many people and plenty of resources. you can be secluded and still have the high ground to keep an eye out. maybe even find a ski resort. somewhere you can have the best of both worlds. snow in the winter and plenty of summer time to grow things and fortify my place. i don't want to be around other people if i can help it.
Well it might sound crazy to some people but i'd try to gather around a small group of trusted and experienced fighters, medics, experienced survivalists, and wander around such post zombie world ( mainly searching for other surviving people ) , ridding it of the undead trash, raiding abandoned places for supplies( supplies would be the toughest part of such plan ). I'd even try working as a mercenary for settlements of survivor's ( this job would mainly include offering myself as an addition to the battle force, maybe as a helping hand to build, rebuild settlements, for a payment of supplies ). I know it would sound dangerous to wander along the world full of flesh eating monsters...but as i stated somewhere, i like challenges...
I want to have a walled fortress nothing huge, no compound, have a towers so people can take out any infected that have gotten to close for comfort.
Cameras would lace the property, the basement would be used to for hydro growing food and pot.
Make a cash pile of pipe bombs and flash bang etc. I got the plan down well and multiple back up plans.
