Has anyone seen Romero's "Diary of the Dead"? I'm getting ready to order it but would like opinions. I can't imagine a Romero movie being not worth owning. Just curious.
*laughing* I found a copy at Columbia House for $11 and some change. I get discounts for being a member. (Also not compensated endorsement for Columbia House-lol)
I finally got a chance to watch it. I loved it. I loved that the radio broadcast (when they were in that big garage thing with the black guys) was taken from the original Night of the Living Dead. I loved that Tucker from Dawn of the Dead (remake) had a cameo and someone else told me that the Amish guy was Glen from Dawn of the Dead, the g** guy who was trying on shoes. I've got to watch it again.....
I love Romero (even "Bruiser" one of his best non zom films) but "Diary" seemed too polished to me. Bad one liners, while sometimes fine in a regular movie seemed horribly out of place in a "real documentry". It also seemed like it was trying to hard to be socially relevant, unlike his past films that just were. It is worth a rent but I dont think it is really worth owning in my opinion.
Romero is scrapping the bottom of the barrel. im getting sick of his mass produced movies. i expect crap like that out of low budget indi flicks but not romero
Really? That's disappointing. He is getting old ya know. I would like to see him come out with something a little more modern (i.e. the Dawn of the Dead remake) which I know was not his. Awesome flick though. I kinda like Land of the Dead though. Big name actors, more gruesome....
