A lot of people have different points of view when it comes to using melee weapons. If you find yourself in close quarters combat with the living dead, what would you use to prevent yourself from being chewed on?

I personally prefer machetes.

I have the following:

Wooden baseball bat - would not use - as i dont think you can do enough damage to the brain with just one blow, also they have a long swing arch

woodsmans axe - may use - very sharp but small cutting edge and long swing arch

parang - would use - very sharp, pointed for thrusting (even though it was not designed to it can do) can have either a long or short swing arch

crowbar - would use - great weight for size, claw can give good penetration either a long or short swing

2lb lump hammer - may use - despite it's weight i would have this in my hideout as it can be used for short periods of time and is heavy enough to crack a skull first time.

I would definitely trust my life with one of these cane knives. I've cut down damn near everything with one of these doing yard work, clearing trails, so on. One of these would definitely get you out of a sticky situation.
