Always have a close range weapon nearby when your at home. Also some training with it would be very good. If you get ambushed at your home by the walking dead, with no option for escape, strike 'em fast, merciless, hope for the best and make sure that you wont get cornered.
(first thing, i wanna say the "teach me" thing is very sexy... haha)

your best bet is the corniest answer of them all... "be prepared before it happens" alot of the things i am about to mention really won't apply to you, since i assume that you are still in high school, but we shall see if we can't fix a few things for ya.

i have my concealed carry license, but sadly, i tend to only carry around the firearm a short amount of time. (it's sometimes necessary for my job) i always keep a good Gerber pocket knife on me, as well as a few other things. my point of this is... know what tools you have available.

the complication FOR YOU is that our school system is so pussified, i doubt that you could even get away with a keychain knife anymore. so alot of the things i keep on me at all times won't matter to you. if you felt you could get away with it, the most important piece of gear you could have on you at all times is a Multi-tool. the ability to take apart a few things opens up more options than you can imagine right now. having a decent backpack (not one of those flimsy girlie ones that rip every 6 months) is one advantage you'll have. other things you should get, 100ft of 550 paracord takes up VERY little room, (about the size of your fist) and it can be braided into alot of things. one other thing you might be able to get away with (not sure) is a simple lighter. it will be crucial.

in the face of a crisis at a school::
understand that in the panic, you will need to cover very basic human needs to survive::
food
shelter
clothing (this normally fits under shelter, but it serves another purpose in this situation)
protection

as for a rundown example of what i would do::

very first thing i would attempt is to GET OUT OF THE SCHOOL. there isn't going to be anything longterm useful there. schools have so many exits, windows, and entrances that they will also be impossible to fortify, and the severe budget they are usually built under means they will usually have the least amount of hallways possible. (this creates pretty bad traffic flow and gridlock within the halls, and in a zombie crisis, it'll just be one big feeding trough)

if escape isn't an option, i suggest getting to the athletic department first. if there is anything that might be considered a useable weapon, it would be something in there. (baseball bats, etc) grab one, then move on. quickly to the cafeteria. using your backpack, gather some food that might keep for a bit. (it may suck to eat a day old cheeseburger, but the human body is surprisingly adept at fending off food poisoning. make sure to get a water carrying device, or several, if you have to resort to 20 oz coke bottles, a small pot for cooking and eating, utinsils to eat from, and a decent cutting device. i suggest a cleaver, and a smaller 4-5 inch knife (long knives tend to be more awkward to handle, and you don't want to risk cutting yourself with a big knife on small jobs.. thats what the cleaver is for). but don't take so much you can't run easily.

after this step, once again reevaluate your opportunities for escape. if still not an option, your personal safety will have to be ensured.

for shelter, there is a little choice. the science department will be equipped with both good sturdy locking doors (dangerous impliments tend to be guarded well) as well as mandatory water hook ups within the classes. other than this, the only other option for water would be a bathroom, but sadly those doors are usually never capable of being locked, and have very tall ceilings. choose a science class with limited windows if possible. don't fear being trapped inside, there are crawl spaces built into the ceilings all over schools for networking and central heat and air.

gather what you can from supplies there, though what you might need will vary in the situation. and once again, reevaluate your ability to escape. get into the cieling by entering close to the central heating and air ducts. carefully make your way along this into various areas, but there will be a cieling hatch near the air conditioners. (necessary for the installation and replacement). if you had a multitool, it would really aid you in the process of getting out. this will get you to the roof.

at the roof, your options will simply be signalling for pickup, or climbing down. (if you had the 550 paracord, you could climb down)

this post is long enough, so i'll stop here. if you want more explaination on something just holler
