Ok we all have to get around after the outbreak. What is the best mode of transportation. For me, I pick a riding lawn mower. Going to die anyway, might as well cut some grass. lol

mmmmmmmmmmmm.

@ Making gasoline:
People have been making computers for decades. Make one in the middle of a global crisis. Go on.

But I do agree with you on most of it. there's a lot of stuff that people should know that they don't, but all that about oil is still only one skill to learn when there are many others with less constraints and more uses.
Now, don't get me wrong, people bitching about fuel should can it. However, I think you're misleading people with the idea that there is fuel available everywhere.

First off, getting crude out of the ground is the first, and easiest step of putting gas in your car. The amount of shit that you need to do to get it to work in a car with all their impurity bullshit detectors is pretty tough, and it's not like you're going to be reading up on your university chem in the middle of nowhere. If you've got time and tools, sure! go for it! but I don't think for one second that 99% of the population could figure it out without wasting huge amounts of time for something as stupid as gas. Find an alternative source of energy.

Second, depending on the car, no, avgas will not work. Because of the high octane, 100LL and 130/100 won't ignite, turning your car into a big paper-weight. Propane means that you need to modify your fuel system, same with butane. Alcohol might work for a bit, but it will still burn considerably faster than gas, and that's hoping those g'damn sensors don't stop your car.

I think that people who have the concerns about fuel aren't worried about the fuel itself, but their access to it.

I completely, 100% support what you're saying regarding having a brain before the apocalypse so you get to keep it after.

hehehe "knowing how to dance around like some faggoty ballerina playing dungeons and dragons sword crap"... I think I pissed myself.
Well, there are some good choices presented here. But as for me, I'd just jump in my good old bass boat and cruise on down the river. No fuel, no problem. I have paddles. And just think, I'd be riding on my water and food supply. No traffic, no hordes. Add a rifle and a good tarp, I'd be set.
go to your nearsest army base and grab an armored car or even a tank
My Dad's a Lieutenant Commander, and since we live on a small base, I've seen most of it. They keep that kinda crap locked up tight, or they have a lot of security systems in the tank. Anyway, soldiers are the type that would survive, so there would probably be dudes there still.
A Bike! No gas needed good transportaion and light weight. Just Dont be fat.

or walk. thats good.
yes gas will be every where untell you get out of the citys and in to the woods. also with cars and trucks you are limited to the conditions of the roadways.
No gas once it's gone you have to find oil trucks. or gas trucks but all gas will run out in the event of a zombie class 2-4 outbreak.
How can you get gas if the pumps don't work. how can you get gas when the dead are walking around you. those fuckers aren't going to wait in line. Oh yeah, people, you don't know this, but gas goes bad after a while. It turns mostly back into water. the gas today is not the gas of yesterday.

5-Ton...

More ton...and you can live in the back!
agreed as a mobile fortress good idea but you wont make it to your next fuel stop so unless you also have a tanker you wont be going very far.
