You are on patrol and you come acrost a person running down a street to your left they go out of site then you see about 12 of the undead shamble after her they are ganning on her.
(The person is unarmed and cant run much longer what do you do.

My first objective would be to detach two personal to the left in a parallel line to her route of egress for pickup and then another two in the opposite direction to flank the zeds. Then I open fire on the undead in an effort to draw their attention away from her. This may or may not work. If it does work I would attempt to draw them away further while the flankers come around and start taking them from the rear while My partner and I get clear to avoid crossfire. Provided there are houses or alleyways on the street I would go between houses/in alleys to limit the advantage their numbers give them. With four gunning and two running we should be able to cut them down. This of course is provided that there are not other zeds in the area attracted to the noise/commotion.
Personally, I like the question, but it leaves a lot of variables uncovered. Could you be more specific. I see no reason why my "Plan" would not work, but then again...I don't even know the terrain features...

seeing as zombies are gonna be slow shambling messes i`d check my surroundings for escape routes then try and distract the zombies so they come for me giving the person time to get a good distance from them. then i`d make a run for it in another another direction but try and work around and attempt to reach the person that was being pursued.
if that option was`nt available to me i`d keep quiet and let the distracted zombies carry on while i made use of whatever time i had to procure more provisions and weapons for myself. of course i`d feel bad about not helping the fleeing person but my hey there`s no point helping a stranger if i`m gonna get myself killed. i`m in this for my own survival, sure i`ll help others if i can but when push comes to shove i`m joining the self preservation society thanks.

Leave them, I am not a good thrower no grenades are out. Make sure no straglers of the following horde would peel off to go after me. Which would suck.
Since I usually stand alone or with a small group sometimes. I would not bother with the person at the cost of potentially getting eaten alive.
