Z-Day has come. Mass Panic. Death Abound. There are many things that will be going through your head. One of those things probably isn't "drugs". But maybe it should be.
The substances you can find behind a pharmacy counter were specifically designed to combat illness and/or alter brain function. These are two invaluble assets. While I am not advising you to rush to your nearest pharmacy at the first sign of a shambling corpse (doing so very well could result in your demise), it would be wise to consider the benefits of various pharmaceuticals.
Now first off, there are the obvious medicines. From your all around antibiotics to the designer drugs targeted for the most specific illness. While some are more useful than others its pretty safe to say that these are a must.
More importantly (to where the debate comes in) are the mind-altering drugs. Many will say that altering your state of mind in any way is a no-no, and there are many merits to this view. Some will say that its the end of the world, why not party it up and go down with a bang. Also, many merits.
My view..... I believe that tossing the mind-altering drugs would be an extreme waste of resources. To keep this short, I'll list two drugs that I would never over look.
Amphetamines- simply put, these are "smart" drugs. I would say the most common and identifiable brand in this group of psychostimulants is Adderall. I am familiar with the effects of this particular family of drugs, and In my opinion they are beneficial. Need to stay up for days on end, physically exerting yourself, all while not feeling tired? This can be acheived. I'm not going to say its a miracle drug, because there are serious risks as well. While not noticing the effects of extreme zombie killing for days straight is nice, its not as if the effects aren't there. This can lead to serious tissue damge if you don't carefully monitor yourself. Also, there is the very present issue of addiction. A good lot of you probably know someone who was at one point addicted to speed.
Xanax- Not specifically Xanex, but just about any benzo(diazepine). This category of pharmaceuticals serves a very different purpose. They are primarily used for anxiety. I think it goes without saying that this time period would be one of extremely heightened anxiety. In all seriousness this could save lives. Anxious people can make some very bad decisions. Some days a synthetic holiday just might save you from cracking up and getting everyone killed. Once again though, these benefits come at a price. Addiction is a very real possibility with most drugs, and this is no exception. Also, while this drug does take the edge off, it also takes your edge off. People can become very passive, and often-times can lose some coordination. This would not be recommended for any situation when danger is prevelent.
There are many drugs that I have not mentioned that could also be quite useful. I figure thats what the thread is for.

Permalink Reply by Ron Salter on March 31, 2011 at 11:13pm Amphetamines....for every UP there is a DOWN. Yea you can stay up for days and not feel tired but when you do finally sleep it's going to be (literally) the sleep of the dead.Try staying UP and all sorts of psychosis start to set in, you can only fool the body for so long, it HAS to sleep to rebuild and recharge.
Happy pills... never a good idea, again you can only fool the body for so long. I think I'd rather have an edgy person around than someone who has their guard down.
Pot and alcohol.... fine if you are in a large group and you have 24hrs off duty while others stand watch, otherwise trade it with someone for food and ammo and let them become zombie food.
