This is TRUE and happening now in SoCo.
Yesterday all communication service, save for satellite (which I am using) was knocked out in the San Luis Valley, an 8,000 square mile area, affecting towns in Colorado and New Mexico.
Businesses shut down early as their credit card machines no longer worked and ATMs were rendered useless. Land lines are sketchy, sometimes working for LOCAL CALLS only.
CELL PHONES ARE DEAD! I get a signal on mine showing 3G with 3-4 bars, but the calls do not go through. We noticed that less stations are available on AM / FM radio stations.
A friend who works for the local telco says it may be DAYS before they figure out how to fix it. How the heck does a "glitch" in the land line affect CELL PHONES?????
None of this has been reported by any news, that I can find, including the Denver Post.
This occurs the day after the meteor showers that took place on Friday the 13th. Could it be caused by EMP's from the meteors?
We have gone to Orange alert at the ranch and are stockpiling gas right now as the local gas stations gas pumps will accept credit cards because they use a different type of communication according to the mgr.
We searched the web and found out that earlier this month, an area in Kentucky was without CELL PHONES for several days. Is the government preparing for a rolling black out of communications, testing rural areas FIRST to see their reactions, before they hit the big cities? Hopefully you are all aware of the Kill Bill currently in Congress where the Feds are pushing for a "kill the internet access" should the Fed deem it necessary to "turn off" communication (your dial up, your smart phone, your dsl, your ATM & Credit cards (which most still dial in to the cc companies), etc should they feel "the U.S. internet is threatened) in some way.
Is anyone else out there experiencing this or has experienced it? COMMENTS??? If this was permanent, what would YOU do?
