As we sit here at our computers just talking about the zombie invasion, nobody is doing anything about it. The war is here my friends and you are nothing but a lunchable to them. We need to unite and form a plan to counter the hordes. I need your plans, not for surviving the attacks but bringing the attack to them and thriving. No cowards allowed in my ranks. Let me hear your voices, your angry, your enraged, you need to kill. The Zombie Freedom Fighters are here to take our world back.

Get your people together first. Get them as safe as they can be considering the situation. Once that's done inventory everything you've got down to the finest grain of gun powder. Decide what your plan will be and if you have the people to do it on the scale you prefer.

I said it in another thread and I'll put it down here. My family is secure in our safe zone. We are fortifying at the moment. We have crews/squads, whatever you'd like to call them, who go out and look for family and friends that have not arrived. Some we've found and some we have not. Once our camp/farm/base is fortified to our liking we will start spreading our safe zone. We will move out and clear as many undead as we can. We've got to be careful to not get spread too thin. We will brign more people into our ranks when we can.

Remember they have us outnumered. To act before you're ready is suicide. These things are not like any army any of us have fought in the past. They don't take prisoners. They don't negotiate. They kill and they feed and they grow from our ranks. We are willing to fight. We are willing to die to save eachother. We don't want to die at all. I've seen reckless and I've been reckless in the past. People die. Fight smart and stay alive.

I've been having trouble with my satcom uplink lately. Let me know if this message comes through.

We are limited. That's the biggest problem. I would say that until you get enough of a force to make a larger initiative, you observe. Take out a couple here and there for now. Find your routes. Everyone knows their area but things have changed drastically and some places won't be safe at all. We're stuck right now on why they don't attack each other. They are attracted to noise and action/movement. Do they retain their sense of smell? Is that how they know eachother? I don't know. I wasn't a scientist or a doctor.

Back on point. I doubt anyone has a group large enough to take an entire town back, let alone a city. We can't allow ourselves to get into a routine when fighting them. A routine makes it easy for their base instincts to help them find us. We've been trying to take back a small town about 40 miles from our base. It's the biggest population center around here. We conduct quick strikes from different directions but continue to lead them to one location. We're trying to get as many as we can into the high school football stadium. When we can get a big enough group inside we'll start target practice.

As far as supplies go, we pick up spent brass when we can. Some of the folks with us don't have what it takes to go out and fight but they want to help. They reload shells, recycle primers, mix powder, cast slugs and scavenge. Everyone scavenges. Some others have started farming. More gardening then farming but it is nice having fresh food. Everyone is armed. Everyone including kids. We teach and stress the importance of respecting your firearm. Some of those lil buggers are better shots then me. It isn't the wild west. It's the chaotic Uncivilized North East. My neice saved my ass last week. We have a strong and heavily fortified inner perimeter. Our outer perimeter is still being constructed. Occasionally we get a zed in the fence. (People die, ya know.) I was tending one of the mares in the big outer pasture and she took this zed out as it came over a rise behind me. She's 12. She should be talking about some pop star on the cell phone to her friends instead of packing heat.

Plan Plan Plan.

STAY ALIVE.

Yeah but you've got to populate the town. There's a lot of maintenance to deal with. I agree, the idea is to get back to normal. Creating your safe zone starts out small and expands when you get more people. I don't think you can cover all the small little holes that would be available if you took a whole town. Unless you had 100 people or so there are a lot of things that need to be done. That's our end result I guess. But our folks won't be populating a town until we can seal it up totally. Oh, you can't grow crops on concrete and macadam.
I agree with pretty much everything PP has said so far...its more important to make sure that you have all your ducks in a row than to go to town with a shotgun and shoot yourself in the foot during the mayhem.
as usual, I am holed up to the end.
I have no desire whatsoever to start anythingt really nasty. I have only my girlfriend, and the brass runs wild around here. They take people to big camps.
I think I have survived for so long because I managed to get as little heat towards me as possible.

My method of killing is the harpoon I used to poon fish in seawater. I reinforced the chain, so it will not break easily. Shot to the head, then reeling them up to the balcony, where my lovely girl smashes their head with a hammer. then, the body gets into the large eco-friendly oven in the basement. we get around 25 / day, and it still makes enough heat to keep us cozy.
Only the smell is a bit weird, but what the funk.... Each of us kills at least 13 a day. we have taken this as our workout-routine.
Sorry if it sounds a bit weird, but if you have spend the last 4 month with your girlfriend in a reinforced dorm. not even Weed takes the edge of the surfacing weirdness. and yes, up till now, our head count is at around 3000.

And harry.... Think about how difficult it would be to fence off a town. To fence off every loophole in the entire town, while having to guard your ass against the oncoming zeds and runners. Why fix what is not broken?
I said it in another discussion. I'm sure dried out Zombie can burn for a long time.
The best plan that could possibly be executed without more than say 20 people is get guns, get high ground, shoot the f*** out of them. and more than 20 people can't stay together long in those conditions. Still, maybe it's worth trying. If it works, Ill pull it off over here.
Unlike Prime, I have lost my family.. It has for the most part, made me a bitter man. Now I hold a special place in my heart for the rot jocks. Havent found much in the way of the living.. There was for a time another survivor tagn along. His name was Erick. Although a bit of a loud mouth, he sure could swing a mean bat.. Lost him about a week ago. He insisted that we stay in a location that for some unknown reason to this date, he saw fit to rest and try to stock up. Location was poor to say the least. Buildings are too close I would say. Too many corners. Not enough cover... I tried to save him. Damn near got my head taken off with his backswing.. I would like to believe that his death was quick.. I would. But from the sounds of his screaming, they took their sweet time. The screams. They froze me in my tracks. Brought me right back to the day when Hell decided to bust out the windows, and tear my family apart in front of me. I tried to save them too.. But it was my father who was the only hero that day. Scatterd thoughts. Torn memory. I still wake up screaming. When I do, I have to move. More of them every day.
Why try to kill them all? Let them all rott to death and then simply rebuild civilization little by little, Me and my group have been on the move for atleast five months,All five of us, I'm not entirly shure where we are anymore, somewhere in Oklahoma. Last time I checked we were in kentucky, I guess we've been moving south, I hear that the infection hasn't reached the West coast yet, are goal is to get to California, In the northern part that is, only trouble would be the zack spreading out from the cities hitting us. Does anyone have any information on the condition of the West coast and anywhere in that general area, Its looking good so far, I'm seeing less zombies, more survivors. If anyone has any info please reply, Thank you.
