I'm going to assume that leather is held in rather high esteem by the Zombie-Hunting community for it's ability to deflect and defeat the bite force of a human being turned undead. It's a good start, but I'm curious if there's any way to improve a leather jacket or any armor some of us have in mind.

What would your armor set be and how could you possibly improve it?
Any little advantage you can get might just go a long way to saving your ass from eternal undeadliness.

Personally, I'd be wearing my normal steel toed boots I wear on a daily basis. They've good support, sturdy, hold up to all kinds of abuse and can deliver a punishing kick if used correctly. I haven't come up with a good way to improve upon this design as of yet...
Next, cargo-pants if only for the added storage space. I've been hearing that duct-tape might be a good idea to wrap around your extremities to keep nosy undead hands off of you. are there any ideas on how to improve pants?

Now I know zombies don't fire guns *most of the time* but a ballistics vest, if one can be acquired, would be useful against Raiders and possibly the Military. If at all possible, finding one with a built-in neck guard would always be a plus.
Over the vest I'd have my army-style canvas jacket. It has a lot of pockets for storage of ammunition, cigarettes, lighters, etc. and so far my canvas jacket has stood up to a lot of abuse without tearing.
Any possible way to improve the jacket?

I'd throw in some elbow and knee pads for good measure, a sturdy pair of gloves for hand protection and though it might sound strange, a painter's mask/gas mask in the event you stumble across some noxious chems/dead bodies.
Toss in a pair of goggles and I'm set.

So, now that you know my general armor layout, what are some of yours and how could you improve upon current designs with readily available and easily accessible materials?

HEY ITS A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! sarcasm intended... spelled guide wrong...armor doesn't need the s after it... owning a book wont help you...owning survival gear will...get a job...and a life...k now i'm done.
for those of us where military armor isn't readily available, carhartt will hold up pretty well. so will their work gloves. and it'll keep you warm.
a pair of boxers and flip flops is all i need im naked everywhere else, good luck to the rest of you.
prob the iron man or war machine suit
leather and ducty tape clothing, not to mention my military gear. current issue baby.
I use a Paraclete RBAV as my armor. Kevlar will stop pistol rounds as well as shotgun slugs, so I'll be safe from any other crazed survivors, not to mention zombie bites. Working on getting a collar for my kit, so I'll be safe from the most common zombie bite location. Add in LVL IV plates, and I should be good to go, at least for the first couple hits.

My kit:

i would add a lite chain mail under the leather, and for a helm i would use a full biker helm with googgles, i would also add leather gloves with a knuckle guard, you also need to get a neck and throat guard.

i would all so tie 1 steel rod to each forearm so if i hit hard enough at a zombie's head i would crack his skull. and all so for the shin's, i would also get armored boots o if you are climbing up something thos undead retards cant bite your feet or heel or toes. there are so manything you can do the list gos on and on.
i see where your going but i personally would go with a wrestling singlet, with long sleeve shirt and tights. (i wrestled for 6 years), and over that a suit of basic chain mail. Coif, body piece, pants, and gauntlets, and a choice of either running shoes or steel  toes (personal choice)
I would wear a light/medium hoodie, with a leather jacket over it. I purchased a gas mask before the outbreak, and would wear this with my hoodie up. Boots, and heavy leather gloves.
steel toed leather boots...levis 501's with morotcycle chaps, thermal long sleeved undershort, kevlar gloves, leather welders jacket, full face motorcycle helmet.
