What are the benefits/drawbacks of using military forces in the zombie infections? What would you apply/where would you apply it /and how do you think it would turn out? You can use any field(artillery/close air support/special operations/armor/etc.) Be vivid and creative in your own plan to topple the Undead.

I don't think it would take long for the military to accept the enemy in front of them. Adapting to the threat could be a real challenge. In the US, most of our armed service members are not full-time infantrymen and women. All may receive some training in this role. However, most spend the bulk of their time in other roles.
If commanders can figure out how to the adapt the military it has to combat the threat quickly, it might not go so bad. However, if the situation requires a new military (a major zombie infestation), anyone hoping for the military to save them will probably die waiting.

Even in the US, we train to apply our resources increasingly against insurgents and terrorists. We also focus a lot on peacekeeping and stability.
I also agree with you the military would probably be rather effective at containing a small or moderate outbreak.
However, I'm not so sure fighting zombies, even in a major infestation, would require a new class of munitions. New weapons make killing an enemy more efficient. But quantity can still be efficient if applied appropriately. For example, artillery could slow down a zombie advance if deployed in the right number and stockpiles of ammo. The zombies won't die, but they could be easier to fight if they are all maimed
As you said though, it would take time to adapt, even if the force as a whole learn how to be more effective with what they have.
