I've been watching a lot of those grand-scale war-themed movies lately, and they've got me wondering; Would practiced maneuvers/ positions such as the wedge and the phalanx work against the walking dead? If these tactics can be used against the living (who are trained to dodge and evade damage btw), wouldn't they be even more efficient in killing the reckless, berserker hordes of the undead? Also, these soldiers would be armored; I mean, if it can protect from steel, wouldn't it be able to protect from claws and teeth? I know for a fact that zombies would have a hard time biting through: medieval armor, samurai plating, gimp suits, etc.

What do YOU think the pro's and con's would be?

Cause Fire tends to go wrong... horribly so.

it's unpredictable, it is neither Friend nor foe.
Your absolutly right. There is no fire department after the zpoc. The way I see it most cities will burn for years because of poorly concieved fire tactics. Pushing the zed into the burbs and the country.
You probably won't need to set that many fires if you catch a gas main.
Buildings will explode along with the stray cars next to them. Big Boom.
The main thing is you don't want to get surrounded. Individual combat on a large scale is a bad idea. The problem with plate armor, or even tactical rigs for that matter, is there is a lot to grab on to. If you got knocked down you would get torn apart, literally. If you are fighting and a zed grabs your elbow piece. Then another grabs the opening at the back for the opposite arm. How effective will you be? How long before they get your helmet off?
My sentiments exactly, zeds can use their muscles to their full extent because they don't feel the pain we do when we attempt to overexert our muscles. Even a normal human can dislocate anothers arm without too much difficulty, so with even stronger muscles i think that 2 zeds would have NO problem pulling something off... lets just hope it dosn't mean too much to you ; )
Hmmm...I got a solution for the "getting torn apart" scenario: CRISCO cooking oil XD

I remember watching one episode of cops where five officers had thee hardest time trying to wrestle down this naked, oiled-up crackhead.
XD We'd have to change your name to Big Mac lol
Yeah, someone should starts making those medieval armored suits again right away.
I always thought that knight in shining armor's fuckin' fuckin' great !
I already do make it, and i fight in it too, so it all is tested and actually works.
i love the idea of it. blasting them into pieces is definitely a way to kill them. i think there needs to be an episode of deadliest warrior with zombies, just to see =]
Dude Battleing the living is not battleing the dead.... see the problem is you watch movies and take what you see as reality and fact... A man in armor fighting in a battle with other men in armor are on a level playing field... man vs. man.... each with the same weaknesses. what the living dead lack in body is made up in mass... and the fact they never get tired or scared or hungry or thristy or need to piss or shit.... you are talking about fighting a enemy hord the size no one has ever seen....and will never stop... how many heads could you chop off before you could not even lift your sword and then they will still be comming. by the time the living know whats going on we will be out numbered. so by the time the living become organized enough to become this army of armor clad barbarians how out numbered will the living be then? Armor is made to protect aganst a sword blow or an arrow at distance even strikes by mace or ball and chain, but when matched against a zombie hord you will be SPAM in a can... they would pull and rip that armor apart by the joints.... not to mention you are still able to be infected by fluids...... I have said it before "The best armor in the world is distance"....
"see the problem is you watch movies and take what you see as reality and fact" I'm sorry, but I had to laugh a little at that slightly-hypocritical assumption; where in thee hell have you ever seen an actual zombie?!
